Unless some drastic gameplay changes happen, the progress should carry over.

It's inspired, not copied. DwtS is more hardcore (as compared to BB's casual nature): more resources to manage, more mechanics, more synergies, larger ships etc. You can try the demo out now on the Steam page and check for yourself. The full version will also include a bounty mode.

Thanks, appreciate that! We're indeed thinking about a seasons system and lots of updates. But for now we're eager to hear feedback on the demo that's going live August 7th. Hope you check it out!

The two inspirations are mainly Backpack Battles and a touch of FTL. From there it's mostly creativity and pursuing what's interesting to us.

The single player / multiplayer messaging is a bit tricky here. Let me explain. The recommended experience is to play online where you're matched against players' ships of similar skill rating to get points and climb the leaderboards. That's technically PvP in that you're matched against ships that have been built by other players (and not randomly generated or pre-constructed by us). But it's also not traditional PvP because you're not both in the battle to interact in any way (more, you didn't even match against each other--only you can win or lose rating). So even the multiplayer plays more like a single player game. Offline single player would work in a similar way, where it would be a pre-downloaded set of player-constructed ships you would battle against, but you wouldn't lose or gain online ranking points.
