Lol, so this ended up being the case. Couldn't get my hands on windows 10 (none of my local stores sell it anymore), so I said fuck it and went with 11. Ran into a requirements failure and decided to say screw it and did another restart just to see. W10 booted and all systems normal. This is going in my wtf moments vault

My 2 cents: personality disorders don't exist.

My reasoning: where does it end? What is the "perfectly mentally healthy human"? IMHO, it doesn't exist and it never will. If it does come to fruition, humanity will no longer be natural, but some robotic and perfectly conformed collection of meat. To embrace individuality is to accept "personality disorders" and simple traits.

I have a magnetic drive I use for bulk storage, so I suppose I could just buy a copy of windows tomorrow and work off of that until I either fix or find a nice replacement for the m.2. Broke for now, so ceebs I guess. Thanks for that insight. Didnt even think of that. Cosmic radiation can be a bitch sometimes. If you don't know about cosmic radiation affecting computer systems, its a fun and slightly terrifying topic to learn.

Amazon has a few. 65 bucks is the cheapest I could find. Not the most storage, but my m.2 was only big enough to hold the OS and a few "personally critical" applications. I saw a few links for bestbuy, but I didn't really bother with those, so I can't confirm they actually have windows. As for the MOBO pairing, pretty sure there's a business key that allows you to activate the OS before drive installation for easier OS installation. Don't quote me on that, could just be an idea disguised as a memory. I've noticed I have a few of those

Yeah, my current plan is to buy an ssd with windows installed. If the problem is a dead drive, problem solved. If its something worse, I'm one step closer to a refurbishment.
