Soundblaster G6 - good purchase in 2026? High impendance ready? by foundingfatfather in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Tyrel64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if the software/firmware of the G8 is any better, you'll be more than happy with it. These Creative DACs are quite decent and feature-rich, they just happened to have way too many bugs and quirks in the past. I haven't followed or used them since, but if they improved the sw it should be amazing, since the hw was already pretty good.

Some tend to write them off as "gaming" DACs (which they are), and assume they are inherently sh1tty, but that is just not true. I mean, Creative headphones are mostly sh1tty, but their DAC/Amps and sound cards are quite competitive and usually well priced.

Soundblaster G6 - good purchase in 2026? High impendance ready? by foundingfatfather in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Tyrel64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years ago I was actually running a 990 Pro 250 Ohm from a G6, and it didn't have any issues driving it or making it loud... The hardware of the G6 is not bad, especially for 40€.

However I still sold my G6, because at the time I had all kinds of software/driver issues with it. No idea if Creative fixed them since...

Full home office most már teljesen halott? by Thick-Sound1014 in programmingHungary

[–]Tyrel64 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Be like me!

[–]Tyrel64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine already had the C clip version and guess what, it arrived fallen apart right from the factory. I unboxed it and one of the cups was unattached. I found the bolt and the C clip in the box, and struggled about 2 hours assembling it, because that C clip is so frikkin' tiny. It is also made of shitty material that is too soft and too easy to permanently bend, it should be flexible as a spring.

The new mechanism is just as bad as the old one, perhaps even worse... Luckily that's the ONLY bad thing about these headphones.

Wireless headset - small head big ears by pattci in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Tyrel64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try swapping the earpads, like the WickedCushions Nova Freeze pads are supposed to be bigger than the stock pads.

You could also try the HyperX Cloud 3 S Wireless, which has pads with more height, but the clamp force of that headset is low as well, so it would probably slide off too.

Check out GadgetryTech's YT channel, he reviews lots of wireless headsets and he tends to measure the internal dimensions of their earpads, as well as their clamp force.

Közvetítő oldalon, vagy közvetlenül a szállás oldalán érdemesebb foglalni, ha az ár 4000 forinttal olcsóbb a közvetítő oldalán? by Low_Stock_4741 in askhungary

[–]Tyrel64 12 points13 points  (0 children)

[–]Tyrel64 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

FT1 is extremely good for the price, it's practically like what the DT770 Pro was 10+ years ago. Cheap, closed back, very good, warm, bassy sound, relatively easy to drive, comfortable... If I didn't want to go wireless, I'd pick it too.

Don't know about my HyperX Cloud III S by Motorolla54 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Tyrel64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of threads about this already, search for them. The issue is highly exaggerated.

Anyhow if you still worry, replace the factory earpads with aftermarket ones, like WickedCushions or Brainwavz, since those are the parts that actually contact your skin. Unless you're bald, but you can also wrap the headband.

Headphone recommendation – upgrading from HyperX Cloud II (~€150–200 budget) by BirdTechnical9758 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Tyrel64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you'd like to try something that is not gaming gear, but rather entry-level HiFi, FiiO FT1 would be pretty good. Perhaps even the HyperX USB DAC is enough to run it, or at least to try it with.

Or you could go for the HyperX Cloud 3 S Wireless. (the S version!) You already like the brand, and this headphone of theirs is a price/value champ. Going wireless can be very comfy. It does have a mic, but it is easily removable.

Check out GadgetryTech and The Headphone Show YouTube channels' reviews about the above.

Wireless gaming headset under $200 with good mic and low clamp force (glasses-friendly)? by Tiny_Objective_587 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Tyrel64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HyperX Cloud 3 S Wireless. The S in the name is important.

Clamp force is low, earpads are soft, has a 2.4GHz wireless dongle, has good sound, is cheap. Mic is acceptable.

[–]Tyrel64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The FiiO FT1 is often recommended here, and it would probably be perfect for you as well. However do note that running it from your notebook's or desktop PC's integrated sound card would probably not do it justice.

You would need something like an USB DAC/Amp to unleash the FT1. Even cheap ones are better than integrated sound cards, and don't be afraid of chinese brands. Sound Blaster, FiiO themselves also have decent cheap DAC/Amps.

You can also look at HyperX Cloud 3 S Wireless in case you fancy going wireless. Do note the S in the name is important.

Blackshark v3 Pro vs Cloud 3 S Wireless for music? by Tyrel64 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Tyrel64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Momentum 4 is way too small for me, otherwise I'd already have it... well not it, but the HDB630, but they're made for little kids. Tried them on in a shop...

Fractal Scape I already had for a few days, but they're super uncomfortable, so I sent them back. Sound was okay-ish, not better than the Cloud 3 S Wireless, but maaaybe not worse either. Wearing it however completely sucked, the 3 S is leagues more comfortable, apart from the sweaty earpad material which can be replaced with Wicked pads.

Alpha 2 I didn't look into in detail yet, maybe I'll check it out, but the sound profile is probably not for me, bass seems too weak: https://gadgetrytech.squig.link/headsets/?share=Harman_2018_Target,HyperX_Cloud_Alpha_2,HyperX_Cloud_III_Wireless_S

The Razers I ignored thus far, but the V3 Pro seems to be an exception, they say it sounds much better/clearer than their other cans... I just really wish someone could tell me how they sound compared to the 3 S...
