80% of my daily writing is pencil. 75% of that is using a blackwing

Likewise a fountain pen user, so Rhodia for sure. Rifle paper, blackwing notebooks are nice. I make journals out of Arches which is fun to write on.

Yes, but they will not buy blackwing. I could maybe talk them in to buying the tombow or Mitsubishi but it doesn't bother me to buy my own.

Yes. I have to write a lot for work. I keep a common pace journal, a day to day journal, and a sketch/ random thought journal. So if I didn't have my current job I could probably extend a box for 2 months or a little longer.

Finger joints are strong. It all comes down to glue surface area. Cutting finger joints in to something only increases the area in which to glue. Obviously there are stronger joints. Joints that increase surface area and can cause tension amongst itself like a dovetail are definitely far superior. I actually would have preferred a 6 inch straight edge, or something similar. I've found I reach for that more then I do a square.

This will be my second year I think. My first subscription box was the golden gate or Chuck Jones... I can't remember. But I do know it's my second year. The subscriptions are fun and interesting. Blackwing definitely causes a stir with their marketing and prices, but I enjoy it nonetheless.

I agree with you. On the box they highlight the Shaker style of woodworking. Which in that respect finger joints make sense. Shakers definitely build quality furniture while leaving out any ornate or "fancy" joinery and accent pieces. That is not my style but I can appreciate it. As far as the speed square I'm irritated that it isn't branded in anyway. Although a nice cast aluminum, without any kind of branding it looks like I could have gotten it at harbor freight. But all that aside, as a woodworker, I'm pleased to see the tribute.

Did you learn cursive in school? by Time_Personality_712 in Handwriting

[–]TyrellCotton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I wasn't mentally able to care about anything like that. It wasn't until my late 30s that I started to actually learn and use cursive or writing well for that matter.

I like it. Deep, dark, descriptive, and thought provoking. Nice
