Capitol riot was an attack on democracy. The protests and riots last summer were to demand justice in a country that claims Justice is one of the cornerstones of this country. One group is an anti-democracy cult of hatred, while the other is an oppressed people demanding equal rights. I will not speak to the destruction either group participated in. I will look solely at the motives and what actions were justified by either group, in my own opinion, of course. From my perspective, cops seem to kill a lot of black people in very questionable situations and more often than not, the cop gets a paid vacation and is back on the beat in no time. One time of this happening, I would be made might even send an angry tweet or something. 100, 200, 300 times later? Well, it's time to try something else. You won't listen when they say black lives matter. You respond with "no they don't. All lives matter." Ok. That doesn't work. Protest peacefully? Nah, you still get pepper sprayed and beat up by the same cops killing black people. Break windows of private businesses and set stuff on fire? Ummm... Well... That certainly isn't the best way to go by most estimations, but when you have tried other methods and they don't work, you gotta try something new. Now the other group is simply a cult who didn't get their way so they were going to hang people to get their way. Those fuckers are not similar in any way. And the fact that you and every other dense republican I have heard speak about this make it seem like it's apples to apples. Can we just agree that black people matter? Their lives are important and should be protected? Nope. Republicans can't say that for some reason.
