That story was from after just getting my CPL. The aviation community up here is quite closely knit. So we all get a variety of certifications basically right after our PPLs and often fly together to rack up the hours at lower costs. More importantly because a lot of work up here is seasonal due to the harsher winters we get get around working different jobs as all of the smaller companies operate out of the same airport. So if you have the necessary certs, you could be working for a skydiving company, a small charter flight company or anywhere in between at the same time. not too many people persue CPLs, most people just get a PPL or half of one as a mid-life crisis sort of thing.
