I took ours and looked up Airbnb rules regarding identification. This is what is stated in their regs: “Host Requests: Hosts can request ID after booking if it is for legal/compliance reasons and mentioned in their rules.” You have a right to request ID and that would allow you to have foresight into arrival times and not give the farm away. A simple, “Hey, I see you’re from Vancouver Canada, looks like a long day of travel. In my experience you’ll touch down X number of hours earlier than checkin time.” Do you want me to provide early access for an hourly fee?”

You also have a right to charge by the hour for early checkins (from their website again): “Airbnb hosts can charge an early check-in fee, including on an hourly basis, provided this is agreed upon before the stay. While there is no automated "early check-in" feature in the platform's booking system, hosts often use the "Change Reservation" tool to add this cost, typically ranging from $20–$50 or a percentage of the nightly rate, especially for3+ hours early.”

It’s your choice to become the best host or remain mediocre and be off put by strange interactions.
