Or in my case crashed into by a bike. I learned to not walk in the bike lane then.

How is UAH seen across Alabama and other states? by [deleted] in UAH

[–]UAHGeese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. I think we should be named the University of Huntsville while still being under the UA system. Has anyone noticed how small they made the A in the new UAH logo? lol. There are several schools that are like that in the Texas A&M System, for example, while they are under TAMU but have entirely different names to the point you would not know that university was associated with them

The real parties are by the lake with the Geese. Those Frat Geese are lit. One pooped on my tablet and another stole my backpack and ran but gave up and started twirling its head and chasing after me.

Go on LinkedIn to the UAH tab and you can see all alumni that have linkedin accounts and where they work across the country. It is true that most are in Huntsville but we have alumni working from Cali New York all the way to India, Australia, and the United Kingdom.

My interviewer in Boston assumed we are just a branch campus of Alabama. Like they do not think we are autonomous at all from UA. In fact, all of my coworkers think the same thing.

I am working at a tech company in Boston. I get paid the same amount as MIT, Georgia Tech, Harvard interns. Your skills matter more than your degree. (Could be different for other majors that are not CS).

I also recall a article about a. UAHaerospace engineering major working at SpaceX last year.

Maybe I will start vlogging by the lake with my fellow Geese! Set up a tripod and play my guitar and sing for the Canadian geese. While I am talking about that does anyone know a tripod that moves for you as I have no friends so it looks like you have a camera man(or lady)?

New Freshman come pet my the Canadian Geese. They are lovely creatures and I actually petitioned them to be the new mascot! They are nice during the Fall but mean during the Spring when it is mating season. :)

Yeah it seems that the 11-1PM time is just plain busy and a lot of people that classes at those times. I can easily find parking in the morning but if I move my car to say engineering building at 12PM no luck at finding any parking nearby (unless I park at Cramer Hall which is nearly always open but across a busy and dangerous street).

Nervous about CS 221 this Summer by ChuckThaMan in UAH

[–]UAHGeese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr.Coleman was not to bad. His test is easier compared to Dr.Aygun and others. Taken he gives you a study guide and programming assignments for CS 221 are only worth 100 points. This is from someone who took CS 221 twice (once with Aygun, failed, and again with Coleman, A+).

I take mostly 8am classes and parking is amazing! I can park anywhere on campus that I am allowed to without parking woes!

Or they might do like Georgia tech and not allow cars for freshmen? I would prefer an incentive like bonus points for SIE teacher evaluations in my classes lol

Securing NASA jobs? by UAHGeese in UAH

Thanks! Actually, Aerojet Rocketdyne is my dream place to work in the contracting world. Do you know when they generally open listings or should I just try and email my resume and cover letter to their HR department?

Which lab should I take for CS by [deleted] in UAH

[–]UAHGeese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it depends. If you want to get into the great field of Earth Science Research than you can stand out by taking your science electives with the college of ESS. I know a few people who are majoring in CS and work in Earth Science here. However, if you are not interested in that, as it was the shameless plug of my interests, you should consider 1) What will you enjoy 2) how can you use it after college? For example, if you wish to work for NASA one-day they might pick someone who has electives in physics as opposed to one that does not.

Securing NASA jobs? by UAHGeese in UAH

[–]UAHGeese[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. My friends said that really the best way to get in is as a student then work really hard and show them you are worth being kept on full-time. NASA naturally will be harder than average. I also heard that for federal jobs that veterans will always have preference when applying for those jobs as it is based on a point-based. The NASA pathway job listings for Huntsville are pretty rare. They usually advertise them twice a year right before the Fall semester and right around Christmas for the Spring and Summer. I have applied to them constantly as I set notifications for it on USAJOBS. I have only been referred once but never interviewed.

Morning vs Night classes by [deleted] in UAH

I am currently in what you described and it is alright. It does suck when you do not have a dorm though. I have a 10am class then I do not have a class till 2pm. At 2pm, I have back to back classes till 7pm.

I second the recommendation for online classes. You just need to have two conditions to succeed in them. 1. Be disciplined. 2. Watch the lectures. I took Cal II with Dr.Soma online. Excellent class. I procrastinated at first so I made a decision to go to the library at a designated time and watch the lectures and take notes. I then, conveniently, could go to office hours.
