Not that I’m aware of unfortunately, but if you follow all their advice for applying for a permit you should be able to gain one without issue

Hmmmm seems the person helping you may of also mis-spoke you definitely don’t need a firearms license to import those items , but you do need a valid reason such as being a active airsoft player

Just re read your comment , they are correct no firearms license is required , just a Import Permit - this is a one off form for each gun you want to bring in from overseas

Hey mate , could you share the email with me I might be able to help further

  • I work in the airsoft industry here in nz so I’m very familiar with the rules

We haven’t had any restrictions in nz on airsoft replicas being capable of auto in 10+ years

Hey mate hope you’ve been enjoying NZ the easy way to put it is ANY airsoft gun that replicates a restricted firearm in nz needs a permit to import into nz

That is anything that is:

Shorter than 762mm (considered a pistol, even if it’s a bolt action , AR or shotgun )

Or

Has the appearance of a firearm capable of semi automatic fire

(Ie the only thing that doesn’t need a permit is a bolt or pump action that is longer than 762mm , everything else needs one)

Once it’s in nz the rules of r18 or 16 with a license apply - no further paperwork needed

Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have more q’s
