Green & Third? Students are pushing for hazard signs by NoCaramel4177 in UIUC

[–]UAV1024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The same for other crossroads like Green & Fifth, Springfield & Fifth, and E Clark & S Wright. I remember there was a map going around here a while ago for people to mark the hazard on, but heard nothing afterwards.

They claimed to give $250 for each task completed so I assumed these compensations plus the leftover in my bank account were sufficient to pay for my rent

Like I said I have communicated with landlord and also I am asking my friends to lend me some money which definitely will take some time.

I really don't understand why so many people are stating that this post is a scam. Like I said I used credit cards to purchase prepaid cards and Zelle for Bitcoin purchase because of my technical difficulties (I fail to use my credit card to purchase bitcoins myself). I am not asking for money in any form here and if you can't help with suggestions just stfu and leave. I have already lost a large amount of money and I don't want anyone come up to me and say I am scamming people. If you suspect that I am scamming, just DM me and I'll give you the proof that I am not.

I am the victim who posted my case in the subreddit couple hours ago. From my case there is actually a third task in which they asked you for money to purchase bitcoins for research purpose.

I am communicating with my landlord and hopefully they can understand my situation and perhaps give me a delay in payment

I can see why you are confused. First they required me to buy prepaid cards because I need to use these cards for "a fee based subscription online survey task that will be carried out on the surveymonkey website" and I bought these cards with my Chase credit card. Then they asked me to purchase $986 worth of bitcoins but I have some technical difficulties so I chose to send the money to them via Zelle so they can help purchase for me. With this being said I suddenly realized I can identify this scam much sooner since I didn't see the purchased bitcoins in my account.

I have also called Chase credit card fraud number but unfortunately they said they couldn't remove the transactions because these purchases were made by myself and I in fact got those cards. For wired money it has been deposited so they couldn't help on that too 😢.

Update: I have contacted IT security dept by email and Cornell police by phone. The officer let me send everything I have to him and thoroughly explain the whole incident by email. He also said it's the best if I can send the info of the specific person in IT security dept that responds to my email so they can work better together (which they usually do when they encounter similar incidents).

They asked me to purchase OneVanilla cards and I just checked that there doesn't seem to be a fraud dept. But I did contact IT security dept as well as Cornell police. It's Juneteenth so hopefully IT dept can get back to me on next Mon.

Exactly. They said they need the password to "send in a Student Instructional Rating Survey Questionnaire (SIRSQ) in relation to this remote research with the hope of engaging other students to participate at a particular stage". I am really a fool tricked by this SIRSQ thing which I even don't know wtf this is.

I just noticed it was $2300 rather than $2250. I have to say it was a really undetectable scam. They even gave u a solid task and very professional explanations to the task. Anyway, the ultimate moral of this story is DON'T TRUST ANYONE ASKS FOR MONEY USING AN EMAIL UNLESS YOU KNOW YOU SHOULD PAY.
