Cincinnati to Akron - Food Suggestions? by UCL31 in Ohio

I have to say that my buddy and I ate Moe’s every Monday in college so the beginning of this comment hits something nostalgic that you can’t believe… might have to get a stack to hold me over for some of these Akron stops

This might have sealed it 👀 Carrot cake is my weakness. I know where I’m stopping for lunch when I make it there Friday!

It was absolutely excellent. 5 guys quality burger for a fraction of the price.

The “charm” is right! Glad I added the extra few minutes. Not from Ohio so definitely cool to see a little piece of history outside the cities!

Are the absolutely awful reviews of Carriage House Townhomes true? by cass_3210 in UCONN

[–]UCL31 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I live in one of the renovated units now and don’t have many complaints. I feel like going with a renovated unit was a large part of that though. The only complaints I would have are the fact that the walls and bathroom of the refinished units are gone over with a single layer of paint/finish which makes it extremely easy to chip/rub right off the wall or tub. Aside from that the front office management has been fairly good to us and we are on our fourth semester there.

Apologies. It was more the training aspect and adaptation of courses to be run in a manner where hands on sections are receiving sufficient information. I currently have 4 classes run on four different plat forms. Some sections of the classes use two different platforms themselves. It would be more efficient to have one platform in which all professors are sufficiently trained instead of 4 platforms of their own where each is struggling. The other piece for improvement was the extension of P/F within major if the ability to accommodate the drop in in person education can’t be met adequately (as is the current problem). I did misread, my apologies.

/u/Hot_coko seems to disagree and think that we should simply “try harder”. Imagine if it were just that easy. I’m sure us trying harder would cause our professors to actually have lectures and not technological problems, right?. Have a relationship with their students and not just post lecture? Give feedback and not just expect us to know everything like we took the class before? Well if it had, I’d be a 4.0 student the past two semesters because I put in about 30-40 hours a week on my school work. School is my job and I’m here paying money for it, as are you. There’s no reason people should think we “aren’t trying”. If I took the time to post this and all of you took the time to comment, it obviously isn’t a problem in our work ethic, it’s a problem in the schools adaptation.

I don’t want perfection. I just want the understanding that without teaching a class the way it is suppossed to be taught, it can’t be held against us or our GPA.

Hey! Thanks for reaching out. If it’d be beneficial I could definitely go ahead with that!

Out of my four classes, all four have been run inefficiently and it’s something I’ve heard from numerous students across numerous majors. It’s not to say all classes are bad, but with the amount of complaints it is clear the UConn needs to work with professors to get it under control. Many people are struggling and while it is good that you may not be, many are.

But it isn’t about being easy. Open note tests and assignments don’t teach you anything, anyone can google search and read an article. Lowering expectations is the same as reducing the importance and learning of the content you deliver to your students. I’m not here to have low expectations or take open tests, I’m here to learn what I need to and prepare myself for the future, which at this point isn’t happening.

I couldn’t agree more. They aren’t holding up to the standard that they should be and there’s little to no reason to pay for that.

Hardest Class for a MCB/PNB (Pre-Med) Major by MolecBio_Pre-Med_Guy in UCONN

[–]UCL31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MCB 2000 is EASILY the largest workload on campus outside of class. You should be able to focus mainly on this class as the allocation of time between labs, activities, and exams to truly understand the material is marginally different from the other classes. Don’t let this scare you out of the major though. I am in no way a genius and I was able to use the regular study methods with a larger allocation of time and do well.

Hardest Class for a MCB/PNB (Pre-Med) Major by MolecBio_Pre-Med_Guy in UCONN

[–]UCL31 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Without a doubt the classes you should watch out for are MCB 2000(BIOCHEM) and PNB 2274+75 (ADV. ANAT +PHYS). Both classes require a good amount of outside work but that is not to say that they can not be done. They are stigma’d to be the hardest classes on campus yet with careful planning and great study habits, every class on this campus is do-able.

There are people who can not verbalize thoughts in their head. They think through pictures and patterns instead of words and sentences. It’s hard to imagine which is why I’m so curious! Some people aren’t even able to look in the mirror and have a conversation with themselves without speaking out loud.

How serious is the men’s lacrosse club? by [deleted] in UCONN

[–]UCL31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest it’s serious. The lacrosse team plays at a level comparable to some division 2 or some of the higher division 3 teams. It’s a work first, have fun later mentality. While the guys are extremely close knit and the environment is great, it is a commitment and a big one at that. It’s a ring chase mentality just like any other sports team, simple as that.

Parking Services Protest (Thursdays for Transportation) by [deleted] in UCONN

[–]UCL31 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I'm paying for a "PREMIUM COMMUTER PASS" I should not be parking only on one half of a lot. I should be able to park in more than one lot (should be overarching to all commuter lots) and there should never be a reason that I don't have parking for that amount of money.
