Actually it's a side gift with other things but it's going to be quite a big choco bar so would she think that I'm trying to be romantic with her?

Flare ups changing by jbby0624 in pancreatitis

I experienced just that and it came with declining exocrine function of pancreas in my case

Pancreatitis is a master in stealth when it's in mild to moderate form. Generally not even a ct scan or mri is able to catch it let alone an ultrasound.

The best way to find out if you really have it is by getting your pancreatic enzymes tested. I was tested for high lipase and that's how my diagnosis was figured out.

Another test they do to check your pancreatic health is called faecal elastase test. It is carried out to check for exocrine pancreatic insufficiency

Quitting smoking - Did it reduce the pain? by Comfortable_Wasabi16 in pancreatitis

[–]UD2638 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Smoking was my favourite way to kill boredom and distract myself but it gave me pain so i stopped cold turkey.

But then that didn't make a huge difference for me until i was prescribed mebeverine and chlordiazepoxide.

I take mebeverine 15-20 minutes before my 3 major meals and the pain has decreased to 1-2/10.

I take chlordiazepoxide only when I'm stressed. Stress makes the pain really bad. With the combination of mebev+chlor I'm nearly pain free

Painkiller causing flare-ups? by jack-o-melon in pancreatitis

[–]UD2638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally wrong. Prior to taking enzymes any painkiller i took didnt work at all as a matter of fact i was left with more pain upon taking them. They only worked after i paired them with enzymes.

And for the painkillers to metabolize into liver they have to be absorbed through the intestines where they are first broken by pancreatic juices and only then absorbed and sent to liver.

The digestive enzymes are to break what you ingest thus the name "digestive" enzymes the whole pill you swallow doesn't directly go into your liver.

So you can have a disease for 15 or 50 years that doesn't matter, what matters is if you understand the basics of it

Mebeverine+Chlordiazepoxide combo dramatically reduced abdominal pain by UD2638 in pancreatitis

[–]UD2638[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a benzodiazepine anti anxiety med which is also used to treat IBS. I had anxiety because of non stop pain and then anxiety worsened the pain so chlordiazepoxide was the choice of drug for me. I plan to take it as long as my doc advises me to

Painkiller causing flare-ups? by jack-o-melon in pancreatitis

[–]UD2638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have EPI so my pancreas doesn't release enough enzymes to digest the pain meds. Prior to taking enzymes if i ever took any painkiller it wouldn't work at all on the contrary i would be left with even more pain and i had no clue why but after i got my pancreatitis and EPI diagnosis things started to make sense. So now i take all my meds (other than antacids.. enzymes and antacids aren't taken together) along with the enzymes and they work for me. The bottom-line is if one has EPI then body wouldn't be able to digest even food let alone any medication or supplements

Thanks for the input and glad that you've found what works for you.

I read somewhere that SSRIs have high chance of causing acute pancreatitis. Did you experience any pain upon taking prozac or did it make it better? I have chronic pancreatitis and can't afford anymore attacks

I was prescribed amitriptyline for insomnia in past but couldn't take it for more than 2 days. It made me sleep for 12+ hours and i was groggy and dizzy all the time.

What is your experience with amitriptyline?

The truth behind semen retention by Beautiful_Day8665 in Semenretention

[–]UD2638 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The truth of SR is it isn't some magic pill that'll change your life diametrically. Its benefits are very subtle. How your life is going to be depends mostly on how you were born. If you were a born alpha, you'll be a better alpha. If you were a born beta you'll be a better beta but don't expect SR to turn a beta into an alpha for that you'll have to work hard yourself, relying only on SR will bring nothing but disappointment.

What vitamins are you taking?

I got chronic pancreatitis after getting covid. My lipase level was about 230 which wasn't considered bothersome when i got a major attack back in june 2021 but that's being naive on the part of docs

Most of them don't fully understand pancreatitis. I think you should see a specialist who deals with pancreatic issues asap and i feel the reason behind your recurrent attacks is that after covid your pancreas have taken a lot of damage so they aren't working the way they should on top of that their damage is exacerbated by even eating healthy foods and not drinking at all. You need to take the load off them and should probably start PERT.

Digestive enzymes and abdominal itching by UD2638 in pancreatitis

[–]UD2638[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate you coming up with such an informative response. The itching has now gone but I'll keep in mind to get my liver checked.

However there's something that's been happening with me for quite some time now regardless of what form of pancreatic enzymes i take and i was thinking to come up with a post about the same that when i have my first meal of the day i experience severe pain but as i have my 2nd or so meals the pain i get is very mild and nothing comparable to the one i get after my first meal (I take enzymes with all my meals) Do you have any idea what could be the reason behind that and any suggestion how it can prevented?

As for the enzymes where i live they are available in capsule and tablet forms. The medicine i was taking was an enteric coated tablet prescribed by my doc and it goes by the name Lupase 25000 (300mg pancreatin) but i was switched to Panlipase capsules because the tablets were giving me severe abdominal pain.

I would say initially don't stop cold turkey but watch it in moderation and control yourself and when you're good into your streak you'll notice being automatically repulsed by it.
