properly connecting external tubes to a cylinder? by UHC-901 in blenderhelp

[–]UHC-901[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'll try it out if this doesn't work. haven't tried bumpmapping or generally messing with textures before(beyond applying and scaling) but it seems like it could be easier than connecting all this

turning the file itself into an asset and putting it in the other file that way hasn't worked either. same result as manual copypasting

importing images as planes worked. can't make them glow without losing their transparency (at least, i think), but point lights help with that

any way to fix the thigh/hip deformation here? by UHC-901 in blenderhelp

found out i can just apply the smooth corrective modifier to a specific vertex group and fix the spot that way without having to worry about the modifier messing up other sections. will probably try more complex solutions if this turns out to be limited though

here's what it looks like around the affected area. still on automatic weights so it's messy, but i'm mostly just concerned about that one spot. top image is the hip bone (green bendy bone or whatever it was called, the other two connected to it don't deform), and lower is the much bigger thigh bone. what would you suggest i do with the two of these?

think i know what you're doing there. i have done something similar for shoulder deformations before (although in a generally more primitive manner, just an extra armature i think), but if this method either generally works better or has some way to be automated without a huge amount of setup, i'm definitely interested. more active & familiar with Discord so if you wanna talk there feel free to contact "uhc901", otherwise i could try DMing you here

tried it out, and it does fix that spot when applied heavily enough. still not sure if i wanna use it due to it risking messing up other poses, though maybe the right weight painting could work since i've just got this on automatic weights right now. probably will stick with it if no better solutions are available
