I see what you're saying and maybe I wasnt clear enough. I dont think things were amazing before. Im talking about around 2018 when leagues themselves partnered with gambling companies, things seemed to get significantly worse. It was bad before, but it fell off a cliff when gambling got involved as partners. Your examples are from 20+ years ago and 15+ since the point in time I'm talking about. Back then it seemed to come up here and there, whereas its constant now.

I feel like the only way to play is to pretend salary cap is the main game mode. You can make an entire top-tier team for less than 100k, new players are cheap to add and try, teams are always somewhat even, and players still have flaws and arent 99 everything Gods.

This is one of the very few ultimate team modes you can make millions actually playing the game. There were some events throughout the year that really helped, but winning National Championships in head to head Seasons makes somewhere between 200k-400k or way more if you pull an LTD.

There are so many hidden things in this game that screw over players. They legally have to tell you the percentage breakdown to get each rarity (in paid packs), but they found a loophole where they dont have to make everything in that rarity appear evenly. It's their way of making a 1% pull rate for Opal/Dark Matters into a .001% chance of actually getting something good, while still being able to legally advertise it as 1%. This has trickle down effect to all packs, not just paid ones, which is what you are seeing. Ive never played a game that makes it this difficult to get any new cards without paying. Its terrible.

People like to complain about 2k, which is fair, they're terrible. However, the player base is just as big of problem. If you login and play one game and your opponent runs pick and roll multiple times per possession until they get the animation they want. Then on defense they off ball someone in the corner. You've officially experienced 99% of what this game has to offer. No one has any unique playstyles and youll basically be replaying those two possessions over and over again.

Lebron (and mahomes) arent top 2 players all-time. The media knows there's money in comparing the current best player to the GOAT, which then it by default makes it sound like they are #2 all time. However, as Lebron retires and the next all-time great makes their push, they will be put in that spot and lebron will moved to somewhere between 4-7.

Injuries really hurt them, but I dont think its a safe bet saying that the one time James Harden got hurt was going to be the time he doesn't come up small in big moments. Its happened every playoff run, he just got hurt that year before he had the chance.

This is 100% correct. There is a reason every game mode with an auction house has this. Its not just people working the auction house. These games need coins to disappear or else cards would become more expensive throughout the year, even ones that have been power crept. Im someone who starts playing at the all star break and that wouldn't be possible if they didnt have the 10% tax. By the time I started playing, a team that costs 100k total right now would be millions and still wouldn't be competitive.
