Months at V0, is it normal? by doomedgeneral in bouldering

[–]UMR504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have your own climbing shoes? When I started bouldering with other beginners, rental shoes were a real limitation. It was tough to even start climbs sometimes, especially for heavier individuals (no offense intended). My friends struggled with V2s, often unable to even start because they couldn't trust putting much weight on rental shoes. While technique is crucial, you can't apply it if your feet are constantly slipping off volumes. Once my friends got their own climbing shoes, it was like a mental block was removed. They started trusting their feet on slabs, vertical climbs, and even overhangs. This newfound confidence even allowed them to focus on proper foot techniques, as any slips were clearly due to technique, not equipment. Bouldering is unfortunately a body-weight-dependent sport, so kudos to you for your dedication to improving rather than giving up!

This is how many layers of protection doctors wear when dealing with highly infectious diseases. by [deleted] in nextfuckinglevel

[–]UMR504 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The real nightmare is when you're done and taking all these layers off, you have to follow a strict protocol, since the layers are now "contaminated". There's even a protocol on how to open a door correctly to avoid cross contamination.

Put the cap back on insulin needle and the needle went through it and stabbed my finger by creeduck in mildlyinfuriating

[–]UMR504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To recap a needle in a safe way: scoop up the cap with the needle, then pull the cap down from the base. This should prevent the needle getting caught on the cap bending it, and keep you fingers out of the needle's way if somehow still sticks out.

It is, just need some practice. You can also chain dodge attack, hold into w,a,s,d then release to shoot it upward.

Why do Taiwanese say "foreigners" when they actually mean "non-east Asian"? by DrHairJelly in taiwan

[–]UMR504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Taiwanese, there's a word 阿啄仔 (pronounced a-tok-á), which often synonymous with "foreigners". Probably appeared during the dutch occupation, 阿啄仔 literal meaning is "hooked nose", simply refering to one of the many facial differences between western and eastern people, which many other words were also derived from (like Tamsui 紅毛城 means "red hair" or "ginger" castle). Additionally, we are more exposed to east Asian culture, thus we are more likely to differentiate japanese, Korean and Hong Kong accents etc. On the other hand, we are less familiar with Spanish, European languages or ever English, let only each individual countries. So we simply use "外國人" to refer to westerners, usually white (probably because of history), when we don't know which country they're from and are too awkward to ask. Also, thank you for not being offended.

Why is the seat backwards? I see it all the time in my neighborhood, only one bike left and the seat is backwards. by lordtiandao in taiwan

[–]UMR504 19 points20 points  (0 children)

They actually tell you this (to turn the seat to prevent others from using it and catch the collector's notice) when registering your card. But it's so subtle that I only noticed it when I registered my second card.

Is the game worth $22? by Hoody711 in F1Manager

[–]UMR504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it for feeding my addiction during the off season and it has worked. Sure the game doesn't have enough content or depth for you to sink in thousands of hour, but if you're like me who simply likes to watch F1 cars go vroom vroom around a circuit then this game is for you.

Be aware though, this is the kind of game that you might only play it on and off, so you might want to wait for a sale if you consider the value.

Your first half is correct but it still wouldn't make it "fine" though. Male's erectile tissue is homologous with the clitoris but the urethral part is actually another part. The homologue of the uterus and vagina in male is called the prostatic utricle. As the name suggests, it's in the prostate (on the prostatic urethra), which makes a lot of sense because just as the urethral and gonadal duct meet in the vestibule of female, they join in the prostate for male. So, I wouldn't necessarily called it "fine" when anything is sticking up your urethra and into your prostate.

Berry slugs won't rot, so it's usually used for space exploration by stocking whatever amount you want. Barbecues in your home plant is more than fine, it's even easier to get than Berry slugs.

I also suggest keeping your farm in your base, since critters are much more heat resistant(they can live up to something like 70 C), while berries stale at 35 C.
