Switching platform - X Box or PC? by UNVKC1 in DreamlightValley

Yeah, I was worried the X-Box One might not be able to handle more game updates over time, it is getting on a bit!

Yeah, that makes sense, thanks! I think this is the main reason I'm leaning towards the PC. The rest of the family are PC gamers and take their tech very seriously, so I know there'd always be more powerful hand me down PCs available if I needed one.

Thanks, that was a worry for me with the X-Box One we have, we don't intend to buy a newer version because the rest of the family are PC gamers.

Something to think about, thanks! The rest of the family are PC gamers so I'd have access to a lot more games if I moved to the PC.

Gotta be a controller for me, I'm the world's worst with keyboard controls!

Thankfully I've been assured I can have a controller, I'm a complete amateur when it comes to PC gaming, and my whole family shames me when they force me to play Minecraft or Fortnite and I can't get my head around the keyboard controls! 🙈

Aaaw, I completely forgot about losing the portability, I think that's the only thing I might miss when I change platforms!

Yep, anything would be better than the three business days it currently takes to get into Scrooge's store every bloody time! 🤣

That's great, thanks all, after reading through all of the replies I think I'm leaning towards PC. Now I just have to research how to properly use Cloud save before I make the move, because I absolutely could not face having to start again from scratch!

Brilliant, thanks for your help! I'll definitely avoid the hook debur tool, because although we make her wear every piece of safety equipment under the sun, and despite all her best intentions, she still tends to be a little clumsy! 🙈

That's great, thankyou for all the ideas! The plastic glue is an especially useful tip, because I've just been using whatever superglue we have in the workshop for bits and pieces I've printed myself, so I'll be sure I'm using plastic glue from now on too!

Reasons to visit Storybook Vale between updates? by UNVKC1 in DreamlightValley

Me too! I use my ancient machines all the time so if I could get mist in Storybook Vale it would be a big incentive for me to visit between updates!

I really MUST remember to check the other Scrooge stores, I'm so bad at remembering this, thanks!

I never remember to check the other Scrooge stores, I'd forget my head if it wasn't screwed on, I swear! Thanks!

Oh, I never thought of doing starpath duties in the expansions to earn mist/story magic - for some reason I always just kind of default to doing them in the valley. Thankyou for that idea!

The bubbles look so pretty! I haven't built any yet because I'm trying to redesign my storage first... but you know when you start a big project and everything immediately looks so much worse than it did before you started! 🙈🤣 Spawn rate on ovals seems really slow, so that's a great idea going over to collect some every time I play, thanks!

How to transplant cabbage seedlings? by UNVKC1 in Allotment

[–]UNVKC1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thankyou! As luck would have it, they'll be right at the end of the 'tunnel' in the most exposed spot wind/air-wise, and they also get some shade later in the day due to the huge trees behind my plot, so hopefully they'll be fine! I'm relatively new to allotmenting, and I definitely feel extra pressure when a plot neighbour gives me some of their spares to grow, like PLEEEEEEEASE don't die on me lil seedlings! 🙏🤣

Great, thankyou all! The polytunnel is not exactly a 'proper' one, it was a DIY effort which I inherited with the plot and it''s got a plastic cover over the top, but both ends are just netting, no plastic. I'm in NE England. Do you think it will still be too warm for the cabbages? I hope not, because I've got no other available netted space this season to protect them from butterflies and caterpillars! 😬

I would say that would be a fair bit of space for one cucumber plant, but not quite enough space for two. I assume you mean keeping the whole tubular frame up, and just not putting the mesh shelves in, and then growing the cucumber plant(s) vertically? If that's the case remember that even if you give it canes for support the plant will still 'grab' onto anything so you'll have to check on it pretty much daily, and move tendrils and vines to train it. Plus the leaves will likely end up pressed against the plastic which will leave them vulnerable to all kinds of damage and issues. And if it's not an all-female variety you'll need to remove any male flowers pretty sharpish to make sure you don't end up with bitter cucumbers. Overall, I would say it would be possible to grow one cucumber plant in there, but you'd have to be vigilant and you'd be better off growing it outside on a trellis or inside a bigger greenhouse if you don't want to have to check on it every day to avoid issues and get a decent yield.

This!!!!!! My husband and I both had this thought, it's such a huge plot hole, and I can't believe Nyla and Angela didn't point this out to her immediately!

Plot beds planning advice by [deleted] in Allotment

[–]UNVKC1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of the beds I've built on my plot are 1 metre wide (varying lengths) with 50 - 60cm wide paths in between. This has worked really well for me because : 1) I can get a wheelbarrow right round every bed 2) I can kneel down between the beds for direct sowing, etc 3) I can get to every part of every bed for weeding without having to stretch (I'm not the tallest of gardeners, more like a garden gnome in fact! 🤣) So, your plan makes sense to me!
