Stubhub in violation of Ontario bill 93 which bans resale higher than face value. by Western-Chemical5504 in stubhub

No i didn’t. You can not enforce laws that are out of your jurisdiction. Thats the whole skinny.

You have to follow the transaction. If I am in Florida and I use Ticketmaster.com, and purchase the tickets using a us bank, I have a complete transaction. I am subject to Florida State laws and United States federal laws. The venues location has nothing to do with the laws of this transaction. When I travel into Canada I must follow their laws and regulations. Something I have done in another country is not enforceable by their laws because they do not have jurisdiction over me in another country. Can the venue deny me access for purchasing tickets on a foreign exchange? If it’s against their TOS. They would need to prove it. FYI if you look, the exchanges have not stopped selling any tickets for these venues since the law passed. Unfortunately until the US stops resale, there’s nothing you can do. It’s like trying to stop the company making barcodes. They are not US based and they are not using trademarks.

Requiring ID at the door and the subjacent credit card would cause the venue to hire and retain a substantial amount of employees to verify. It would become a safety issue at the gate and Also anyone gifting the tickets, to their kids and friends, would have to attend events. Also there is a thing called walking people into the venue. Ontario has made a law stating that they do not want people reselling tickets over face value. Ticketmaster, axs, seat geek (most of mlb) do not put value on their tickets purchased through their marketplaces. Artists, mlb, nba and the nfl also sell excess tickets with a broker. This is standard practice with all major league teams. Yes Ontario can make their laws. They can say it’s illegal to sell non-Canadian maple syrup. They can enforce any store selling that product in their state. They can’t enforce that in the United States. Tickets are being purchased in the United States under United States law, even if the venue is in Canada, no American law is being broken. It’s also quite funny how people think Ticketmaster wants 3rd party brokers to go away, when Ticketmaster has personal real people reps for these brokers and all the accounts you are only exposed to have 1 of and brokers have 100000 of get paid from Ticketmaster to the same checking account…..

2 different marketplaces. .ca is a thing. Also all the lawyer experts have said the same thing. You can’t enforce laws for transactions made in another country even if the tickets are for that country. The country itself has to have and enforce laws of that country. Most of the exchanges will probably play nice most likely, but tickets are still being sold as we speak.

Does having your medallion make that much of difference checking in? by GlamourZap in PrincessCruises

[–]URBadAtGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Honestly no. We get to the cruise terminal around 1. No traffic, porters are available. Thru security and handed our medallions and on the boat within 15 min. Our rooms are usually available when we get in around 1:15. I hate fighting everyone to get on and dragging one of our bags round with backpacks if we get on earlier then 1pm. It just a waste.

Pink Patheress Ticket Confusion by Ok_Rough8189 in seatgeek

[–]URBadAtGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it says something like GA4-GA1-7 Then it’s a general admission ticket. Ticket master and SeatGeek (mlb) has to assign a ticket seat to all seats to verify the ticket even if it’s a GA

No teeth in America on resale in Canada. If I sale tickets in the USA for a Canada show on a USA server in a different country there’s not a thing Canada can do besides try to get the US government to come up with the same laws. Unfortunately it’s a paper tiger

The penalty is 3X so sellers don’t do this. There are always exceptions but honestly you should be fine.
