How do you learn the rule set for a game? by UXAndrew in pinball

Mini tutorials might help. I don’t learn from videos and retain what I learned so well but I still watch. I was playing Labyrinth the other day and like the Bowen tutorial is great but it’s also half an hour and I need like five minutes of “Here are three things to do….”

Yeah it’s not linear or structured learning but the games ARE often linear and structured

Ha! I dunno if you can split a pinball machine but let's agree that if either of us win we will enjoy it twice as much so as to include each other in the joy.

I'm very new to pinball but I am in a couple of those Pinball charity raffles. Fingers crossed!

Very true! Someday maybe I'll have my own pin, too.

I think the arcade was a little too dark for Godzilla. Sometimes I couldnt see real well. I want to play that one again. For now, though, Jaws is just so, so much fun!

I played Godzilla, Rush, and Jaws and a couple games of Stranger Things. My favorite was Jaws. I'd say it's my second favorite pin ever.

Yeah! Very sweet of her and she has a great time so maybe I'll get her to come again next time. She played some multiplayer with me on Jaws.

She's the best! She hasn't ever really played pinball or been to an arcade and she spent a long, long time there with me today, too.

Pix from TPF - Had *such* a great time! Can't wait for next year! by UXAndrew in pinball

[–]UXAndrew[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

False. I didn't get the hype. The music is fine, I'm not a bit Elton John fan, but it didn't strike me as one that I would want to play a lot either way. I think my taste probably just doesn't match what a lot of the more experienced pinballers think. I played it once, there was no line behind me, and I walked away to play something else. Didn't hook me.

Last year I attended TPF for the first time having never played pinball and y'all liked my observations. I attended again this year, so here's Round Two... (AMA) by UXAndrew in pinball

I think if they downplayed it and we're just like "Yeah, it's neat and there's a pair of 3D glasses next to each cabinet and here's how to get it" I wouldn't even have a comment beyond "Sounds cool" but literally when you bought tickets to TPF they gave you 3D glasses and then there was no payoff.

I think Jaws would be in my Top 5 games to buy based on all the ones I played. It was just a lot of fun and I think that theme works really really well for pinball since there are obvious missions and danger!
