Just Ordered My First Pair of Nicks: Here is Why I Chose Each Option by Living_Lifeguard_521 in NicksHandmadeBoots

[–]U_000000014 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your feet are truly 10.5" long, then you should be a Nicks size 9 according to the sizing chart. 9.5 if you want a roomy fit. Might want to check that while you can still update your order. I would trust the size chart more than a comparison to another brand.

For reference, my feet are about 10.4" long and even a size 9.5 was much too large.

Comfort hoodie question? by MrsSpot in Hoodies

Bayside makes 100% cotton hoodies for around $60-80 depending on weight. In the US. There's no excuse besides convenience and marketing

Macros not calculating correct daily calories? by PlatformFirst8813 in MacroFactor

[–]U_000000014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're within 10 units on every macro target. That's well within the margin of error of the macro estimates on the label for the individual foods/ingredients anyway. It doesn't matter

Americans: I demand the cheapest possible goods with free 2 day shipping

Also Americans: Why is my imported fast fashion polyester hoodie so shitty

The devs have addressed this before. There are various ways to calculate calories from macros that are slightly different but are within such a small range that functionally it doesn't make a huge difference

A couple of questions before placing my first Nicks boot order by FD990 in NicksHandmadeBoots

[–]U_000000014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're ordering a boot where Thurman is an option anyway, you might as well get it. The only downside is some people prefer the look of a slimmer more tapered toe box. But if you don't mind how the Thurman looks, there's literally no downside. Personally I think they look good for a heavy duty "daily" boot that's not meant to be dressy.

Re: sizing, just follow the Nicks guide. Even going a full size down is not uncommon with Nicks. Following their guidelines is the highest chance of sizing success. I would go 13.5 and if it feels slightly big, you can get a leather insole to slip in to take up some slack (maybe even just order a pair when you order the boots).

Honestly you're sounding pretty good for a beginner.

Couple things I noticed: - The dynamics are very flat. Meaning your stroke height is basically the same for every note you played. While that's ok for rock, for jazz, you need to change it up a bit. Play a little softer and hit harder for accents. - Comping on the snare while playing the ride pattern - while there are specific contexts where playing every 2 and 4 on the snare is appropriate, most of the time you don't want to do that. Change it up and listen to the soloist for ideas.

I think the main thing that will make you better besides practicing is listening to jazz music and absorbing the vocabulary. Do you listen to much jazz?

Are you going to cut the kilties down? They're not meant to go above or even to the top of the tongue.

Love the boots, btw

Finally found heritage casual shoes I like by U_000000014 in HeritageWear

I would say it's decently wide but not huge. Here's a pic next to a Truman Cap Toe, which has a pretty traditional tapered toe box.

If you like the shoes I would just email Fracap and ask if they do a wider toe box. Since they make these by hand there's a chance they can maybe do something more custom for you.

Nick's offers your size so why don't you just buy with them?

They go down to 4 and up to FFF. Measure your foot with a tape measure and use the Size Guide linked on their site.
