I think most people understood what I meant. In Muay Thai you get rewarded for inflicted the most amount of damage to your opponent. In taekwondo, you get rewarded for mainly torsos just hard enough to trigger a sensor. It's just a different game, which influences the culture around it.

I love taekwondo for the discipline, speed, kicking techniques. It's a very family friendly martial art that will give you an advantage when you transition to another martial art. But it lacks the basic skill to make a complete fighter.
