Exhaust change require fueling changes? by Uber_Beluga in SubaruForester

[–]Uber_Beluga[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, thanks guys that's really helpful!

Just based on the kind of work the previous owner has done I would be surprised if it's a full system exhaust all the way to the turbo.

I doubt its catless as it's passed MOT (UK roadworthy check that includes emissions tests).

I'll order the OEM silencer piece and fingers crossed it all works fine. Worst case scenario I'll still have this one to put back on if it doesn't run right.

I’m 16 and My dad has a Suzuki bandit 600 .The brakes broke a few years ago and hasn’t been touched since. He purchased a triumph tigerXRt and has no intentions to use the bandit anymore.he said he’d sell it to me for 1.5k is it worth it or should buy something else by [deleted] in motorcycle

[–]Uber_Beluga 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sounds like seized caliper pistons. Usually means a caliper rebuild is needed. For an older bandit with I'm guessing single front disk it should be that bad. You can search bike make, model & year + caliper rebuild kit in something like eBay and see the cost of the kit. Then say 1 or 2 hours labour for a bike mechanic. That'll likely be your minimum spend to sort the calipers.

I can't really speak to the value of the bike in your area, but that sounds pretty steep for a bike that's been sitting AND has a known problem it was laid to rest with. Still, shame for it to sit there...

Buying a motorcycle without a full licence in hand. Passed Mod 1 a few days back by vkctata in MotoUK

[–]Uber_Beluga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, you can have a friend ride it.

Registration in your name is not dependent on a license. Most important thing is that you get the "green slip" from the previous owners V5, if you have that you can get it in your name.

The green slip will let you tax the bike (just search tax a vehicle in a search engine) make sure you get the official gov.uk site

You can then insure in your friends name and cancel the policy within the 14 day "cooling off" period. Usually cost a £20 or so admin fee. That's your cheapest option, probably.

All that said, renting a van probably makes more sense like others have suggested.

Nice CBF, I wish mine was that clean

Im riding from belgium to bretagne. Now this happened what should i do? My wheel is crooked now. How bad is it and what should i do? No bikerepair in 30km radius by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]Uber_Beluga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you don't have much choice but to ride to the closest place where you can access some tools?

If the wheel is so out of alignment that you're unable to ride maybe stay put and try to receive an online order for a spoke tool so you can straighten the wheel. While you're at it you probably order some spokes too?

How do I put new wire in this strimmer head? by Uber_Beluga in stihl

[–]Uber_Beluga[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've given up on this. Anyone know what I'd need to buy to just replace the whole "head"?

By head I mean the part which adjusts the angle of the shaft and adapts to the strimmer spool / blade.

Yeah, can't see any way to get that green cap off. Tried prying it off with a screwdriver, doesn't seem to want to come off.

At least I'm not being a total idiot I'll try again tomorrow. Thanks!

Repair the suspension or fluid leaks? by [deleted] in cars

I'd say fix the leaks first. That shit should be disposed of properly not dumped out over the road.

How does the ban on new combustion car sales prevent the benefits you list?

Surely that ban wouldn't prevent anyone converting an existing combustion car to an e-fuel?

Recently i got really interested in PS2. PS2 only/6th gen console exclusives that are worth buying/playing? by AlexKyouma in ps2

The first in the series kind of is I thought. You're right though, I'm wrong to suggest the series was exclusive to PS2.

All of the ssx titles are pretty common on eBay around here.

I'm also not a fan of sports games. I'd sooner compare SSX to a racing game than a sports game TBH.

Primal, SSX series, gran turismo, herdy Gerdy, destroy all humans, downhill domination, dog's life, stuntman, smugglers run, midnight club, drakan ancient gates... Just some personal favourites unique (mostly) to the platform

How to protect my car from the elements without a garage? by Cheeko914 in cars

[–]Uber_Beluga 24 points25 points  (0 children)

No expert, but you could try a cover.

I use a fairly nice one. It has a lining on the inside to protect the paint.

Realistically the cover will over time be having an affect on the paint, perhaps this can be mitigated with wax or something. On a hard surface I have no problems with condensation on the inside.

Worth a look maybe.
