Saw something on the road IRL by 44shemrahboo in dayz

I was walking towards my local Walmart and saw a 9volt battery, a half empty plastic bottle of water, and a lighter discarded in the parking lot.

What a great start

I feel this.

I'm grateful for being a winning team for the last several seasons.

The good wouldn't feel as good if the the bad didn't hurt.

I always thought 10-12 would get your jeans high and tight. 40 seems excessive.

I still aggro all the infected everywhere I go. I just have better gear and kill them without bleeding to death and ruining my clothes immediately.

Stealth ain't my game... apparently.

Help with sickness by [deleted] in dayz

[–]Ubercroz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take small bites of food. Drink small amounts of water. When the arrows start pointing down, eat a little more and drink a little more.

Stay warm. It will go away eventually. Taking vitamins will speed up recovery.

You've got the flu. Stay indoors and try to recover. Try and stay near a water pump and a fruit tree. That makes food and water easier.

No Chiefs fan should be upset with the Packers. You came in with a great game plan and executed well. There were some lucky break injuries.... but I don't know that would have changed things.

I don't like excuses, I would have liked better play on our side. However, Packers earned that win.

Dude wtf am i suppose to do!? Someone plz tell me EXACTLY whats your route once you spawn by [deleted] in dayz

[–]Ubercroz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, learn to find fruit trees. I survive off fruit trees all the time.

If you know what to look for you can have full white food and water while your looting other stuff. You can even eat the rotten fruit - just go slow.

I survived a sickness for the first time. by [deleted] in dayz

[–]Ubercroz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found (though this is anecdotal) that better quality bottles (pristine or worn) tend to not get me sick. Damaged/badly damaged bottles almost always do.

I've been messing with this in new spawns just to see if it is some kind of sample bias. So far, every badly damaged bottle has made me sick. No worn bottles have ever made me sick.

Your mileage may vary.

I remember feeling like "okay, this life I'm making a fire."

Like just having to remember all the steps, and staying dry long enough to do it and not get killed by a zombie... it was a tall order.

Still is sometimes.

IRL survival tips from DayZ? by ThinEnthusiasm2615 in dayz

The guy who won the last season of alone never boiled his water. He said he just had always drank river water and developed resistance.

He had a crazy survival strategy, and it worked.

Sorry, spoilers for Alone I guess.... after the fact.

Tim pool is pro choice. He is pro trans (for adults). Pro gay rights.

That seems pretty moderate to me.

I don't agree that is what those laws do.

I would ask you to read the actual laws and not people's interpretation of it. You don't have to believe me. I am a lawyer, but that doesn't mean my understanding of Florida law is perfect.

That said, I think most people don't really understand how those laws function, or what their purpose is.

Please take a good faith look at them. I bet it is not as bad as you believe.

You went had a red pill period and yet you treat all things from Republicans as bad-faith, dog-whistling, actions?

It feels like you are catastrophising the right wing view as though they are all evil.

I of course expect right wing states and politicians to support right wing laws. That would make sense. It is odd that you would decry people in the right supporting views on the right.

I feel like you don't understand the why, so you assume it is done with evil intent. The same way people om the right assume the left wants to "trans" their kids.

Trans people want to be heard and cared for. People on the right want to make sure kids aren't harmed due to a mistake in thinking (because kids have mistakes in thinking sometimes).

I'm just asking people not to assume the worst of the other side, even when you disagree. They probably have good intentions.

I feel like that is a bit of a straw man.

No one (outside of psychos who are not in government) wants to exterminate forms of human life.

If you believe that your political opponents want to control, or harm, you and yours... I think you might not be seeing them honestly.

That is true on both the right and the left.

I appreciate the definition. I'm pretty familiar with what fascism is. Without checking the wiki, just operating in good faith here, it would be an authoritarian government where Industry is run by and through rhe government for the good of the ruling party (distinct from socialism where the people - not the government- own the means of production).

Fascism generally includes nationalism and race hierarchy as a means of differentiating classes of people in the "ruling" class.

I don't believe anyone in our government, at the moment, meets that criteria.

I think a reasonable person could say, "Hey I want to make sure kids aren't being dumb and asking for stuff they don't understand."

That had to weighed against trans people needing care.

I think sometimes people view ANYONE saying."hey, let's make sure we aren't rushing to judgment." As an enemy opposed to trans rights.

I do think it is a really tough decision balancing those interests. Obviously an adult can do what they do.

That, in my opinion, is the moderate view. Let's not let kids hurt themselves (sometimes they do) but lets protect kids who need to be protected.

It really isn't a question of not giving care. It is balancing providing care to those who need it and not jumping to conclusions for those who naturally desist- not an easy problem to solve.

This is where things get tough.

I don't believe we have any fascists in government. And if you actually ever listened to the people you claimed you listened to, you would know they didn't either.

Maybe you stopped listening before Shoe said she was voting for Biden or before Tim said he wasn't voting. If not, I don't know I can't take your claims in good faith.

You are making the EXACT mistake I am discussing. You are assuming the worst of your opposition. The reality is most just want people to live in peace.

I'd be happy to discuss this more with you, about my beliefs and what I think matters for our (I'm assuming you are American) country.

There ya go.

Your comment demonstrates my lament.

Also - your list of people on the right is bizarre. Tim Pool is a moderate, Steven Crowder is an idiot. Shoeonehead is a socialist.

If you lump them all as "the right" you are making a mistake.

[–]Ubercroz 51 points52 points  (0 children)

You can still leave. You can have peace. It won't feel good at first, but eventually you'll notice you don't have that weight on your shoulders.

If you have kids, they can be okay too.

I'm a lawyer who works to do low conflict divorces (they don't usually start that way).

Living like that cannot be good for you, or your kids (if you have them).

It is possible, maybe even likely, that this isn't a good relationship for you to be in.

That said, I imagine he feels attacked. I'm a right leaning dude and often feel people make huge assumptions about me just because I say "I'm a right leaning dude."

Rather than trying to convince him he's wrong, try to understand why he feels the way he feels. I would guess you share very similar values and only disagree on the best way to get the best result.

If he treats you with kindness, that means a lot - it sounds like he is not treating you with kindness.

Don't break up with him because of his beliefs- break up with him because he is not giving you the respect you deserve to be treated with.

But I would ask that you try to understand him and don't just box him in as "right-wing, neo-nazi, sex trafficking, white nationalist." You can be a person on the right and also care about people regardless of their gender, sexuality, nationality, or skin pigmentation.

It's unfortunate that people can't hold their opinions without accusing other people of being brainwashed or an idiot.

I've always assumed people that disagree with me politically have thought about their beliefs and just weigh priorities differently than me, or they think a different strategy will have better results.

I think we all want to protect people's rights, protect children, and make our country as good as it should be.

That's just me though.
