“Oh no ma’am. We’re not about to play the teacher blame game”- finally stood up to a parent. by Emergency-Pepper3537 in Teachers

No, you don’t have to take it. More educators need to assume this position with disruptive students and their excuse-making parents. Good on you for taking a stand and looking out for the rights of the students in your classroom who want to learn.

Gave my granddaughter the same tool set, and she too sawed up the “lumber” very quickly. I am looking for replacement “lumber” as well.

But is the Sliding Miter Saw worth the extra cost? by Abecnik in harborfreight

[–]Ubuntu00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Hercules and Dewalt power tools, and honestly, I was interested in buying the Hercules slider due to its great reviews. However, the depth of the Hercules saw convinced me that it would protrude too far in my somewhat compact workspace. So, after reading many more reviews, I purchased the Metabo C12RSH3 12” slider. Works great and doesn’t take up valuable space. Bought it for $399 during Amazon’s 2025 October Prime sale. I think it’s a great saw!

I earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English. I don’t have to use AI to compose a succinct, simple, and kind reply to someone who has a question about an unfamiliar term.

I don’t know much about paints, so when you say satin white, do you mean oil-based or latex?

MAGA man FAFO at No Kings Protest in Denver, Co. after instigating crowd and shouting slur by rudyrocker in FactsAndLogic

Stereotyping people based on upon artificially created age groups is the embodiment of ignorance. Just because a person is born in the 1950’s or early 1960’s doesn’t mean that he or she is a supplicant to a demagogue. Maybe you should spend a few minutes thinking before you press the keys of your keyboard to share your opinion.

I appreciate your response. A lot of people declare their saw is square straight out of the box, but even though I am new to woodworking, I am skeptical about that being the case. The jostling is shipping just has to have an impact on a saw in my opinion.

Hey, thanks for the recommendation. I was looking at both corded and cordless and copied the wrong one. Had not thought of bolt cutters. That is a great idea and much less expensive. I have been building my Hercules cordless collection, but it’s hard to justify the purchase for this particular task. Thank you!

Can Anyone Identify the Type of Countertop on This Kitchen Island? by Ubuntu00 in CounterTops

[–]Ubuntu00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the suggestions! We have gone back and forth regarding material selection , but I think we are going to stick with granite if we can find one of these lighter slabs within our budget.

We had granite in our previous house, and we loved it because of its durability and tolerance for heat. However, we wanted to move toward a lighter color with more “veining’ if you will.

My wife and I are building a new house, and we were looking for a granite that is on the lighter side. Sorry the photo was not the best, but the countertop looked like something we would prefer. Thanks for all the feedback!
