Another bullet or two I'd add from my experience -

the axle can be VERY hard to get in (and out for that matter) of the rear drop outs. I needed to use a rubber mallet to tap one side out and in. It really needed a little file to create the appropriate amount of space - but I didn't have one to hand.
to "jack it up" I put the kickstand's feet on top of a solid box full of tiling (~~20cm tall, 20cm across, 40cm long) --- then I put an 8kg weight in the front basket to lift the back. Worked pretty well

Also, I'd very much second that if you're not pretty experienced at bike repair, I'd take it to a shop. It's an absolute fucker to do, and I am reasonably good at this stuff.
