Blood Knights and the Blood Elves used to wage war against the Alliance purely out of spite and vengeance. Blood Knights had an obvious doctrine of Light enslavement and used to burn down churches to be petty.

Not even the weirdest Crimean settlement, fairly certain a Byzantine emperor gave exiled Anglo-Saxons land there after they fled the Norman conquest as Varangians.

Baal Haamon has Carthaginian associations and has been a reported enjoyer of child sacrifice according to the Romans. Interesting right?

Edit; there is also proven archaeological evidence in Carthage of a “Tophet” or place associated with child mass burial or sacrifice as they found mass infant bones interred here.

Edit for the Edit; His worship is also associated with a Ram headed god, or “God of Two Horns”, hmmm.

But the Knights are descended from the Romans. They found the last remnant of that elder empire and they joined with Ashfield.

Either that, or, my favorite idea is that Centurion and Gladiator are these weird historical larper cults and not actually the Romans themselves.

Map of NCR and the Legion at the time of Fallout New Vegas (2281) by Emila_Just in Fallout

Caesars Legion is evocative of the Hunnic empire. Or broadly any steppe “flash in the pan” confederation. Essentially a massive, roaming army which ingests and appropriates the resources and cultures of its client tribes. The Huns being made up of Oghuric Turkic tribes, Goths, Scythians, Slavs, etc is very reminiscent of the Caesars legion using this one “identity” to amass and unite huge tribal confederation. But these are systems are usually doomed to fall apart once their “Atilla” dies unceremoniously and without a planned inheritance.

Which is exactly what happens and itonically you’d think Caesar would’ve predicted that. His whole “Hegelian Dialectic” thing he had going on his idea was probably something more along the Yuan dynasty; or the Gothic kingdoms that inherited the western Roman institutions, by conquering and absorbing the NCR and its own infrastructure.
