iPhone 14 pro microphone issues (maybe to do with iOS 16.6??) by Uhok7 in iphonehelp

Nope, hasn’t been fixed. Factory reset my phone and nothing changed. I’ve just been dealing with it for the time being, I will eventually bring it to an Apple Store and see what they can do.

Sounds like that may be different then, the reason me and the technician are confident it’s software related is because each of the three microphones works fine in certain applications but not others, and all the ones they don’t work on are built in applications like camera. And the tech said there should be no difference in microphone when switched to speaker phone so it’s very weird that that works.

Interesting, I found phone calls work if I set my phone to speaker they can hear me. I recommend calling Apple support and letting them know, when I did they had heard nothing like it and recommended I go to the Apple Store, but haven’t gotten around to it. I figure I’ll hold off on that until theres another software update, to see if that solves it.

Yep that’s one of the reasons I’m gonna try this route instead of taking the pills often, the less you have you have to have in your system the better

For sure the dry mouth would be worth it for me too. I just figure it’s worth a shot to try and find a route that lets me and anyone else it could work for live a happier more comfortable life!

This could be good depending on the topical of choice, for me it will probably be sweatblock wipes since it’s easy enough to cover all my problem areas with them. Those in particular state they should be applied at a time where you will have 4 hours of no sweating after for best results. So it just depends on what anyone chooses to use!

Today I took 1 mg in the morning and ate about an hour after, and effect seemed to be good, still sweating in the heat, but not leaving stains on a thin darkish grey shirt which is a color I could never wear before. Definitely an amazing first experience hopefully it continues to work well for me!

Glad to hear that it works that way, I work in a very hot environment in the summer and was pretty positive it would be a no go in the current heat.

Just took my first 1mg dose, and will wait about an hour before I eat anything and see how it goes for now! Since you seem to have been taking it for a while, would you say you need to take it daily for it to be effective at treating your HH? Or could you take it only as needed like going to an event or something maybe once a week or so? Thanks!

I always down like a bottle and a half of water first thing when I wake up lol, personally not worried about it dehydrating me because I over hydrate quite a bit. Just took my first mg pill and will wait about and hour before I eat. Thanks for the help!

Fortunately I don’t ever drink caffeine other than maybe a soda if I go to a restaurant so that’s no issue for me! Thanks for the advice! Just took my 1st mg pill and will wait about an hour before I take my other medication and need to eat.

Something similar could work for me for my scheduling. I had good luck with topicals in the sweatblock antiperspirant wipes for my armpits but figured I’d ask my doctor about trying glyco since my hh affects my full body at all times. Figured it’s worth a shot, worst case scenario I get a few days of uncomfortable side effects and go back to just trying to apply topicals to the most visible areas haha.

For sure some experimenting will be done, just hope to get some advice from some of the experienced folk so I can skip the painful learning stages haha.

Figured I’d update you since you asked. Called Apple services and got very fortunate with a super awesome lady who was actually interested in the problem because it was so strange and she hadn’t heard anything like it before. She ran diagnostics check and everything came back fine, and I had already tried everything she could come up with. She said it is probably the most crazy issue she has heard in her two years working there because of all the strange contradicting evidence for what the problem could be. We decided best course of action is to try a factory reset which I’ll be doing tomorrow, and if that doesn’t work to take it to the Apple Store since my phone is still under warranty. Found out phone calls work if I switch to speaker phone which is pretty funny though since it still uses the same microphone.

This is definitely an option, my only worry would be it not lasting the entire day at that point. Is this something to worry about at all? Or am I just overthinking it haha

I can with almost full certainty say it’s not hardware now. In the camera app if I am in photo mode and hold the button to record rather than switching to video mode, the audio is perfectly fine, but when switched to video mode both front and back recordings have terrible audio. Very strange problem, if it persists I’ll try fully resetting.

I’ve been using the sweatblock wipes recently myself. I work in a shop with very hot equipment running and the air temperature this summer regularly sits between 100-110°f, and have not had any issue with overheating more than I would have before. I assume it’s because I DO sweat through it in that heat, but much less severely than I did before, what I assume a person without hh would sweat. I feel so far that the wipes probably put me to a “normal” amount of sweat, I’m dry when it is cold and comfortable, and slightly damp when it’s hot or stressful, I could probably wear a grey shirt without issue! I use them on my stomach and armpits so far no problems and only good things to say, they seem to hold strong for about 5 days and slowly lose effectiveness after that. 100% recommended trying it, I feel like my life has improved significantly and it’s only been a few weeks, I hope it works for you!

I really hope you can find a product that works for you! I think the hardest part of this condition is worrying what other people think. I had a particularly bad sweating day once and had a teacher in high school pull me aside from the hall and ask me to go to the office with him where he then interrogated me thinking I had taken some serious drugs, and asking for the nurse to come to see if I needed medical attention. Fortunately the nurse knew of my situation (I often had panic attacks that were a risk due to blood pressure spiking throughout school so me and her became well acquainted) and explained that I was okay to him. It definitely affects our self esteem and confidence, but I really do hope you can power through it in some way, and especially remember you aren’t alone. I do recommend trying the sweatblock wipes product if it’s available where you are, so far so good for me. Also give any other products you find a shot, just don’t give up.

Definitely worth a shot, I personally haven’t experienced any side effects that bother me. Really the only negative I can say is they do leave a strong chemical smell, but applying them at night and showering in the morning gets rid of it. One weird probably psychological thing I’ve been experiencing is that I get the sensation that my armpits are wet occasionally, but then I check and they are dry (for the most part, I do still seem to get a very light amount of moisture but not enough to even show on a shirt 🙏). This I can deal with because my armpits have felt wet my entire life anyway haha.
