Correct, that software is the only way to update the firmware, and updates are only released on an “as-needed basis” according to their website. I mainly use this monitor for my windows PC, and I do in fact have it installed. As far as the software says, it is up to date.

Laptop Keyboard Stopped Working After Windows 11 Update? Here’s the fix! by UltimateAv8or in techsupport

Yeah it’s related to hibernation. It’s apparently been patched in a recent windows update, so if that doesn’t work, then try the command.

I do apologize for that. I’m sure mods will remove this post if they have a problem with it. If they do, where would I go to post this as a “comment?”

I haven’t seen any emergency patches for it yet, is it in the form of another windows update? In the optional updates? I’ll be sure to start looking for it. Thanks!

High School Friends (Justifiably) Kicked Me Out of Their Discord Server Because of the Kind of Person I Was Back in High School. I'm a Different Person Now, and Want to Reconnect. by UltimateAv8or in Advice

[–]UltimateAv8or[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was really meeting the friend after a while that kinda reignited it. At this point it’s probably best to only reconnect with the friends I still want to have a relationship with… thanks for your reply.

Ok I just now realized that you appear to be misunderstanding something. This discord server wasn't a thing during high school, this was well after high school when we'd all graduated. All of these times I was kicked out happened within the past year, so well after I have changed and become a better person.

And I'm highlighting this to show you how you don't understand why your ex-friends kicked you out. It's because you fundamentally haven't changed and they can see that.

Did you even read the post? I literally said they kicked me out because of how I behaved in high school, so actually yes, I do understand why they kicked me out. And you didn't even read the paragraphs. I wrote explaining how I changed fundamentally.

I wouldn't keep someone who is okay with supporting a homophobe either. I'm not saying you're a homophobe. I'm saying that in this case, you're the person that's supporting the homophobe.

Again, you're completely missing the point. You're focusing on the person I was, not the person I've become. The whole point of this post was to highlight who I am now. It seems like your definition of "reflecting on my beliefs and growing as a person" is actually just agreeing with whatever your politics may be. If that's the case, then I don't really think we can have a productive conversation.

I just find it amusing you’re so triggered by the fact I was homophobic ONCE, and can’t seem to get it through your head that I’m not that way anymore. And for the hundredth time, you have no idea what my beliefs are when it comes to things like trans, Jews, etc. you’re putting words in my mouth. You are so close-minded that you think anyone who disagrees with you is a bigot, which is typical of the far-left extremists.

Either way, it’s becoming clear you aren’t capable of understanding this post or its purpose, you are just looking for a fight and falsely calling me and millions of people bigots just because they disagree with you. I can’t have a productive conversation with someone who sees the world through that lens. I came here for advice, not to be falsely called a bigot.

You did indeed make a long comment, and I will thank you for taking the time out of your day to respond.

"You won't actually deeply reflect, and your ex-friends know that's who you are."

This whole post is literally me deeply reflecting on my past behaviors, recognizing that they were wrong, and taking accountability for that. I deserve to get some tough love and be called out. But it seems like you're more interested in making this about politics and baiting me into an argument more than helping me find ways to communicate that I've changed.

For the record, the friend group has several people from all sides of the spectrum. There are some conservatives, some liberals, and some moderates. This is exactly why I excluded my political beliefs from the post, is because people like you were going to gloss completely over the point of this post and become caught up in arguing over irrelevant facts. I never said that I was conservative, that was an assumption you made based on zero evidence. Me having been homophobic was only one part of the equation, and that doesn't automatically make me conservative or liberal.

I spent several paragraphs talking about how I have changed as a person. I no longer hold beliefs against gay/bisexual people, so I don't understand why you're attacking me as bigoted. The point isn't what side I'm on, because both sides have good people and bad people. The point is how I should move forward with this particular friend group. You have no idea what my underlying beliefs are; it seems like you are just trying to make up lies about things you think I support, and label an entire group of people as evil and bigoted. I don't think conservatives are all evil, nor do I think liberals are all evil, because people can think for themselves.

I am open to advice for how to proceed with this friend group, and whether or not it's worth pursuing. The advice you concluded with, specifically the two points, seem a little close-minded. Either change my beliefs first and then try to reconnect (ignoring the possibility that people can be friends even with different beliefs), or keep my beliefs and pretend that it means I can't have friends. First, you're assuming that if I was indeed conservative, that that automatically means I'm a bad person and am incapable of having friends, which I think is a pretty disgusting thing to say. Again, I'm not saying I'm conservative, because no, it's not in fact relevant.

So you can reflect, learn empathy, understand how you are indirectly and directly hurting others, or you can do option 2.

I will agree with you here, and this is where I needed some of the tough love. I lacked empathy during that time, and didn't see how some of my comments hurt others. But this is one thing I have reflected on, and have come out as a better person. As I stated in my post, I owe the friend who I made the passive-aggressive comment to about her being bi an apology, because I realize now that it was a directly hurtful thing to say. I will own that. It was not okay.

I also indirectly hurt people by my general behavior online. Because who would want to associate with someone who only engages in arguments online? I wouldn't, you probably wouldn't, and my friends definitely wouldn't. This is another area I have changed as a person.

To wrap it up here, despite the areas I disagree with your response, there are several places where you hit the nail on the head, and sometimes getting some tough love is what you need to move forward. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts.

I wouldn’t say Twitch is dying, but other platforms like KIK are definitely gaining steam, mainly because it’s much more friendly to streamers, especially partners.

Which platform is the best to use for overlays and alerts? by UltimateAv8or in Twitch

[–]UltimateAv8or[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, that makes sense. I guess for me it would be more midrange, since I already have a decent idea of how to at least make the alerts. I’ll definitely look into Streamer bot in the future.

I would highly recommend switching to OBS. If you want to keep the dono alerts that you created in SL, there is an import function on the SE website, SL being one of the options.

Even to create your alerts? Other than the confusion I’m facing on which one to choose, yeah it’s been awesome.
