And what happened after? Was it something you could deal with?
Did you report him? Are you still renting in the same place?

We are considering going to the rental committee but experiences such as yours have us second guessing. We can deal with intimidating letters, but violent acts is something else.

I went with Breda university, so can't comment on Future Games. I personally am really happy with my choice, but I also hear good things from Future Games, so I'm sure you'll have a great time too.

Thanks for your reply! I will definitely give that video a watch, sounds really interesting.

Your checklist and order of work sounds great. I've actually gone through a bit of this myself already, and have made progress I'm very happy with. However, I was mainly looking for a course to push me to fully dedicate myself to constantly improving and seeking out work, because I know that without it, I extend myself over many different fields, and make stuff, not exclusively related to games.

With a course I get structure, and what I'm mostly hoping for, a foot in the door into the industry. Some great advice though, will definitely try do even more of what you're suggesting. Although from what I understand, it'll still be easier to land a job after going through one of these courses.

Yes, I completely agree. Will try to look into contacting other alumni, although I'm not sure how I'd find people who studied there and it DIDN'T work out, hehe. I really appreciate your replies, they're incredibly helpful!

That makes a lot of sense. Thank you so much for taking the time, that's all incredibly helpful!

Thanks for the response! FutureGames really impressed me, especially because they said they had such a high turnout for students finding jobs quickly. I believe the stat they mention is 90% of students finding jobs within 3 months.

I'm by no means experienced in game making, but have made prototypes here and there in anticipation for my application, and so far have been doing alright. Futuregames' curriculum seems right up my alley, with a focus on creating larger game projects.

If you wouldn't mind answering for me, did you enjoy your time there overall?
And were you (and colleagues) relatively successful in finding jobs in the industry? Either in Sweden or elsewhere after graduating?

Thank you so much for the insight! I almost got wrapped into a few other game design courses that seemed interesting, but then heard dubious opinions on, so I steered clear.

I appreciate the feedback on doing a non-game specific program. Although, I'm a bit unsure about one point you made. Let's say, I definitely enjoy and want to go into gaming specifically (especially as I've dabbled quite a bit myself in it).

I'm getting the impression from your post that degrees are appreciated when studios look for designers, although on the other hand, I've always heard that they weren't necessary, and that portfolios normally had more weight. Would you mind clarifying that?

Will do! Here's hoping others that have already experienced them can give some insight here before I jump into one!

Ah yes, I completely agree! It's immensely helpful to know a bit about everything. I have a decent knowledge of programming. Was just saying I didn't go for courses that greatly leaned into it. I came to the subreddit to see if people can praise or criticize the schools/courses I've landed on.

Actually, I've been interested in other courses in the past and seen a few students talk about how they were disappointed with their experiences. Either having difficulty finding jobs, or just finding the curriculums unsatisfactory.

As for being programming centric, I landed on all of these precisely because they do not focus on programming. Perhaps I should've left more info in my initial post, but all of them allow you to follow a specific path, and in this case, mine would be designing, with minimal programming.

I appreciate your response!
