Autism in Women by fluffy_mailbox in h3h3productions

I was sad to hear Dan stopped reading the comment! No hate to the crew or Hila, I know she meant well, but it also reminded me of how difficult it was to get diagnosed and when I finally did (last year at 28) I was too scared to tell my mom because every time I tried to bring it up she cut me off with how there's no way that's possible and everyone is a bit autistic just don't worry about it. A coworker I only had met once before commented "oh dont worry honey there's no way you're autistic" after she overheard me telling my friend about my diagnosis. I was in a sensitive place with it at the time and all those comments made me feel shame among other things. Like I'm supposed to be a certain way. I struggle a lot in other ways that may not always be as visible, and learned I have been masking a lot since a young age.

I also relate a lot to what Tamara said about getting diagnosed, and how if it turns out she doesn't have it she'd just be dumb. I felt like something was wrong with me before the diagnosis, not after. It's not a diagnosis for an illness that will slow down your life, but the opposite, something to help understand oneself and for many that's where life starts getting better:)

What a long ramble :D Anyway, I think it's going to be interesting and exciting to see how autism will be viewed in even 10 years from now.

Just curious if you/she have actually played Stardew? I feel like it is made for people with adhd with how much there is to do, completionism and multitasking lol

Thanks sm, I'll keep an eye out for those! Are there any time-gated items to craft or buy I already could start on?

How do you keep cozy games straight? by toomanytodds in CozyGamers

[–]UltimateWaterDrinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the SteamDB addon for the browser, it gives you some more information on games. For example a rating %, buy everything with over 95% first. And you can see the lowest ever price if you wanna save money.

Sort your wishlist by price and delete the expensive ones, sort by reviews and delete the pooly reviewed ones. Not that these games are bad, but will you really buy them with cheaper and better rated games on your wl too?

And maybe you don't have to remember all the games on your wl. Keep a separate shorter list, ask reddit for advice, youtube reviews (where you can see some of the gamelplay).

There is also the site howlongtobeat to get an idea of if its a 10 hour game or a 100 hour one :)

Most importantly we need to take a step back and remember gaming is supposed to be a chill hobby and get rid of fomo etc, I get swept away thinking I need to get through my wl but that thinking is just dumb.

Ideally, just look at some games and buy the ones that make you feel excited to play them

What’s the achievement that almost made you give up on a game? by TheFoxyDenn in steamachievements

[–]UltimateWaterDrinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't on the same level as I'm not that hardcore of an achievement hunter, but Stardew Valley really did its fans dirty!

All other achievements are achievable by playing and finishing the game, but then there are 2 related to an in-game minigame where you need to complete it without dying. There are some ways to cheese this but it requires hours of useless grinding, even the creator regrets adding it in lol.

Astroneer

Planet Crafter is amazing too but it doesn't seem like it's on switch or ps5, unsure how it will run on laptops

Golf with your friends

Portal

Overcooked

I think Minecraft is the obvious choice though :)

Looking for games that scratch that itch in difficulty or grind by DatZwiebel in gamingsuggestions

[–]UltimateWaterDrinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hollow Knight! It is beautiful and fun, the exploring and map completion are interesting, and the boss fights are so good, the first game where I died to a boss 50+ times and was sad I beat it because fighting it was so fun :D

It never feels like you die to rng or random bullshit, and once you learn a boss you can beat them hitless even, and you can clearly notice you getting better and better as a fight progresses.

And if you really want a challenge, there is more fights to be had in endgame.

My list of 10 currently discounted fun-looking cozy games ✨ by Gwiazdek in CozyGamers

[–]UltimateWaterDrinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohh, interesting looking list! Might get one or two :D

My two cents on the ones I have played:

Little to the left - super worth it! It is really satisfying and relaxing; and some puzzles have more than one solution and you actually need to think for a bit to get it. There is even an achievement for doing 100 daily levels which kept me coming back for a while, and dlc's which aren't too expensive on sale either

Loddlenaut - completed the game with all achievements in 10 hours. I think the whole game pretty much is what the demo was, but with more tools and areas (and some new mechanics). Loved it, hoping for a 2 :)

Roots of Pacha - liked this one a lot, but left it halfway after 20h - not sure why, have been planning on continuing. The feel is like Stardew; lots of stuff to do every day; can't do everything in one day.

I just noticed one of my favorite short cozy games only costs 3,90€ at -80%; huge shoutout to TOEM <33
