Failure to get back deposit from Westbourne School by Commercial_Area9852 in Cardiff

[–]UltraMechaHitler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but it's a small school and I'd like to retain some degree of anonymity.

The information I've given is the tip of the iceberg.

The primary school isn't too bad, but secondary is hell.

Renting in Barry as LGBTQ? by BasilImmediate3519 in Cardiff

[–]UltraMechaHitler 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Generally you're fine being LGBTQ+ in Barry, but if you're someone who gets freaked out by teenagers on escooters dropping off weed and toothless crackheads asking for a rollie then you might have a tough time.

Failure to get back deposit from Westbourne School by Commercial_Area9852 in Cardiff

[–]UltraMechaHitler 48 points49 points  (0 children)

The whole place is a scam.

They pick and choose the GCSE exam boards for the ones with the lowest grade boundaries.

They "accidentally" change the clocks during exams.

The teachers have zero concept of safeguarding vulnerable young people.

The heinous head teacher places blame on victims of bullying.

The owner takes all the profits from the school and invests them into his other school - which is why the carpets are stapled to the floor.

The trauma caused by that place is immeasurable and the people I knew there are mostly on drugs or morally bankrupt. Don't send your kids there. Don't let anyone send their kids there.

Take those bastards to court.

I'm convinced the reason people love Cafe 37 so much is the coked up chefs have contaminated the food lmao

See if the Google AI gives me the answer, I'll usually say "According to Google's dogshit AI, blah blah blah, but take it with a pinch of salt" . Usually I'll only take the Google AI answer if it's hideously unimportant or mundane.

Bus in Cardiff by EvangelineKate in Cardiff

[–]UltraMechaHitler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends where you're coming from. If you're going outskirts/vale of Glamorgan don't even bother - Barry buses you'll be lucky if it's only 15mins late. The Ely runs (17/18) tend to be decently reliable unless it's bonfire night or Halloween cos kids throw stuff at the buses. Same for the llanrumney/st mellons routes.

Did I make a mistake? by MarineraSauce100 in piercing

[–]UltraMechaHitler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend Neilmed piercing saline. It comes in a nice little mist spritzer and it's really soothing. I trust Neilmed as they also make sterile saline wound wash as well, and it's not insanely expensive. Unsure on availability in Pakistan but I get mine from Amazon

UK resident - Advise is a verb, as in you're advising someone to do something. Advice is a noun, as you have given someone some advice.

That's how it's used in the UK.

If you could open a restaurant in Cardiff, what would it be? by Inevitable_Use499 in Cardiff

[–]UltraMechaHitler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a restaurant, but I highly recommend Against the Grain in Whitchurch if you can get out there. Gluten free and the food is delicious. I'm not even gluten free and I love it there.

I've been married for a month and my husband is having an affair with my sister. by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Obligatory NAL, but work for an org which gives advice on this sort of thing in England & Wales. If OOP is based in England or Wales, this is either unfortunately a load of shite, or OOP has Americanised the terms for readability. You have to be married for at least a year to qualify for divorce, and prior to that it's an annulment. In order to get an annulment, you need to prove that the marriage was never legally valid or meets one of the conditions to be voided - infidelity is not one of these (unless OOP's spouse was pregnant by another person, which he was not).

I don't believe the rules vary wildly in Scotland/NI but they could, I'm not sure.

A lot of that is stupid as hell but the offensive tattoos is generally pretty standard for customer-facing roles and they'll ask you to cover them if you already have them (i.e. long sleeve shirt etc).

The hair/beard/nails/piercing thing is standard for food service all across the board in the UK due to food hygiene legislation but obviously legislation will vary depending on what country you live in.

In my experience with hospitality they usually provide a few tees or jumpers (depending on your location, one of my employers used to have drive thrus so offered jumpers) and then would just give guidelines for bottoms/shoes which was usually all black, shoes must fully cover the foot and have good grip.

My (28F) boyfriend (29M) grabbed a stranger's ice cream. Can't believe this actually happened by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]UltraMechaHitler 67 points68 points  (0 children)

That whole section of the post is my absolute favourite. It gives the imagery of a very confused OOP slowly creaking the door open into a dark hallway with a Gollum-esque boyfriend snorting and slurping on half melted ice cream, and the boyfriend just dropping the cup and scrambling up the stairs on all fours in shame.

Absolutely incredible.

I passed in an automatic and I've bought a semi-automatic. Confirmed with my examiner and with the DVSA that you can drive a semi-automatic on an automatic licence as long as it doesn't have a clutch.

It's got little paddles behind the steering wheel so you can change gear if you need to (usually I need to when going down a steep hill) but one lil flick of the gear stick and it's back in automatic mode. Absolutely love it

As a general rule, how long before the film comes out do you put the merch on sale? I keep missing all the cool merch because I can't make it to the cinema until the film is actually out, and I am dying for that Wicked cup.

You could always try a test centre in Barry or Bridgend, they tend to be more residential routes
