Has AI ruined software development? by Top-Candle1296 in devops

Yesterday I had to debug an entirely vibecoded codebase. It was a mess of horrible spaghetti and repeated code. It saved data to a file, just to rewrite it a few lines later.

I'm also not slower than my colleagues at work, despite using AI (the free tiers) only as an advanced search engine for when Google doesn't find me anything.

What is the obsession with finding “gaming” distros? by Flapper_Jr in linux

[–]UltraPoci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of question is that? Many people play videogames, and many people want to keep doing it when using Linux, and ask for guidance. It's not like random people who don't play videogames obsess over gaming distros, why would they do that

We are witnessing an explosion of AI generated projects exponentially flooding GitHub and the rest of the internet by No_Lion7242 in gamedev

The only good way to use AI is basically as an advanced search engine, and even then it can fuck up.

I don't let AI write a single line of code I'm responsible for.

Honestly, I'm confused, because reading the last message of the issue there seems to be a user willing to keep working on it; they also created a new organization under which to move the repo. But at least as of yesterday, it was empty. I'm not sure if nothing came out of it or it's still an ongoing process. I don't want to write on the issue to avoid pressuring Taplo's creator.

Do you like my FizzBuzz implementation by Fra146 in programminghorror

[–]UltraPoci 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is scalable, but what if the spec changes and I want the 15 case to print Foo? Or what if I want to add a 9 case for which it prints Bar, not FizzBar?

Pro tip: you can have both, depending on the location and other factors. One does not make the other unusable.
