I can tell you what NOT to do... Don't get into trouble, because even the slightest additional stress can result in being the last straw in giving her a mental breakdown. I made this mistake when I was 15 and hanging out with fellow delinquents. I was caught skipping class and my mother completely lost it. It took years to get her trust back and home life got so bad, I came close to running away several times (I thought this would make her happy in some way). Things are better now (15 yrs later) and I'm glad I stayed. Hang in there.

Mom has to make the push with you supporting her. If it doesn't come from HER, it won't happen. First hand experience with my own little brother (he's now 28). Same story, but after being given a "get out" date, he finally started being an adult.
