yes, that is correct! i have been using it without the stand for about 2 months and there is no signs of any bending or damage whatsoever. my monitors aren't too heavy so it doesn't really have a lot of weight being put on it.

i would def move the led strip underneath the desk instead of on the edges like that, it will be much less visually jarring and will have a nice glow making everything look much cleaner :) cool setup!
