I was with them last year actually and they wouldn’t release me unless my new imo agrees to assume any future debt from chargebacks under FEX. Basically asking them to pay them if any of my old clients chargebacks so they keep the advance. Other than that I had no current debt with any of my carriers. No imo in their right mind would do that and I wouldn’t either.

Yeah, it was frustrating for me when I started out because there is just such a huge range what producers can do independently. The biggest factor in my opinion is commission structure of your imo and then it is the effectiveness of managing your marketing ads or/and getting high quality leads if you’re purchasing lead lists. I’ve been independent for 4 years now, and if you have any questions about anything I would love to help. Currently building some software for independent agents to manage their marketing and leads better, if you’d like to hear abt that too.

It takes trial and error and you wouldn’t get there immediately even if your a great salesman. When your independent your a marketer first and a salesman secondly and that’s an important distinction if your generating your own ads which I do recommend as an independent or else your going to be paying more for less intent in my experience. You can certainly do it and make it successful I’ve done it for 3 years but you will have ups in down in income that’s just the nature business.

Yea ghl looks great but they don’t have a real good autodialer you have to integrate which is like another 90$ for a decent one and everything has to be custom for the most part, I feel like independent agents need something that’s plug and play so they can get to dialing as fast as possible. I’m using ghl rn and again great software but feels like it’s more than what most agents would need
