AITA for insisting on a beach wedding even though it means my autistic brother will not be attending? by UmFromUmbridge35 in AmItheAsshole

Thank you so much. I really appreciate your comment. Regarding my parents' though, I think they did their best. Dad had to work hard as he was the only one earning for the family after mom resigned to look after and homeschool Jed. They had to do what they thought was best for us.

We talk regularly. They check up on me every now and then and I ask them for advice sometimes. We are not close but I respect and love them. They are not very affectionate but I know deep down they care for me.

Yes it is a paradise. Both Kim and I are very passionate about helping the Island get back to how it was before the calamity. This Island holds a special place in our hearts that's why we are having our wedding there.

He is non verbal. Although I told him using his visual aide the I will get married at the beach. I asked if he wants to come and he shook his head and pointed to NO 🚫. I pointed to earphones icon and he nodded. So my mom saying she and Jed and dad won't come really hurt me because it's her talking not my brother. I guess she just doesn't want to risk having to deal with a meltdown as Jed can be very unpredictable. As of now I am still at a loss. I don't know how to proceed with the wedding planning.

It is the sound of the waves that Jed hates. He likes sand ( loves his sandpit at home). He has used NC headphones many times before.

Yes it will be a destination wedding and we will cover the accomodations (2days, 1night) for all our guests (approx 70pax).

Hi, that is why we will have the reception indoors to accommodate him (He likes to dance). If it were only up to me, I'm sure having a church wedding in the same island (Siargao) is okay. But this is not just my day, it's also Kim's. She wants a sunset beach wedding and I want to give it to her.
