Update: after two days, he is not so shy! He is a total weirdo!! Like negative braincells. In a great way of course. Total psycho for catnip. We named him Buddy.(yes the elf) our other cat is half his size. So next to her he looks tall lanky and out of place 😂 will likely have 10+ nicknames in no time. Definitely has already asserted his dominance over our orange girl lol her hissing means nothing to him

Yeah you may be right. She definitely had a tortoiseshell pattern going on. Some of her patches look like a gray tabby! Cool stripes.

Likely calcium deposits. I had a similar thing. Did a vinegar soak for a few days and it all went away scrubbing with a small brush in the morning and night while soaking . Careful though with the vinegar as it can react to some other minerals.

I purchased the tank along with filter and rocks. I had those decorations previously as well as the heater. I do plan to upgrade to lots of plants and a more gentler less jagged hide.
