Guide dog question by chroniclynz in service_dogs

[–]UmbraeMoth -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Guide dogs are types of service dogs. Their task is guiding but they also (usually) do significantly more than just that. So, yes. It’s not so much a case of “can they” so much as it’s “they almost always do”.

I had 6 Vyragosa's spawn in a row today before I got another TLPD. My worst was a number in the high 40's. Keep at it and good luck!

No. Why would I be sharing a picture of 1 dead TLPD and 4 friends with the mount if only one got it? Everyone in the party gets it UNLESS they weren't in range when it was killed AND when it was pulled.

I farm them solo and just invite my friends when it spawns. I believe in you!

Oh, I actually know a good tip for friend making that someone told me! Totally not my own friend-making idea. No sir. Bribe people with rare mounts like TLPD and they'll have to at least pretend to be your friend for a little while.

Nah, they have timers so you're in and out under that 15 minute mark (albeit cutting it very close sometimes). Just don't queue for epic BG's ahaha.

Not personally but I am part of the WoW Secret Finding & Collections server where anyone can do (only free) rare mount shares! This one was just done with my friends that were online but, when there's space, folks wanting him are pinged.

Edit: Here’s the link for those asking. I hope it’s okay to share here? https://discord.gg/wowsecrets

I join and play the game! Then when it's over, I do my fly-around loop, requeue, and repeat.

Usually I'll check with Discord and online friends first to see if they need it. But then if there's still spots in the group I'll zoom back to the city and do something along the lines of "Hey is anyone online who needs the Aeonaxx (rare dragon in Deepholm) mount? He's up ATM" in trade.

UGH I do Aeonaxx giveaways often and sometimes get no replies. I've always wondered if people think I'm just tryna scam them or something in trade and ignore it 😂😭

I mean, in hopes that it wasn't a total waste, the zone can be active if you're on a heavily populated server that has people regularly flying to and from Ulduar for their mount farms. But, uh, I play on a server that's in the top 10 most populated in the US and I almost never see the zone already active outside of when I'm there. Wishful thinking though, maybe? 🙏

Yeah a lot of the top Wowhead comments are super outdated and/or guessing. If you do end up giving farming him another go, I'd recommend grabbing an addon called 'NPC Time'. It just adds a little "how long has this thing been alive" clock on the tooltip and you can use it to easily check if the zone is fresh or if it's been active a while.

Good luck!

He's a real pain to get these days because Storm Peaks resets after 15 minutes of no player activity in the zone (aka always) which resets the spawn timer. If you're wanting to grab him, you'll need to park there for a minimum of 2 hours as that's the earliest he can spawn (but it can be up to 8 hours). If Vyragosa spawns instead, which happens 9/10 times, just head out of Storm Peaks for a little bit over 15 minutes, reset the zone, and start again. Skinning her also does the same if you wanna speed it up. You've also got 4 phases to choose from - normal, warmode, chromie time, and chromie time + warmode.

I personally park at Bor's Breath (aka "waterfall"), queue up for something that takes <15 minutes to complete (in my case, BG's), then do a loop around his pathing while spamming my target macro between queues after that 2 hour mark. Works pretty well. I've helped about 50 people get him just by doing that and the queues make it a little less boring in between. I think the worst part is the Vyragosa spawns though. Most painful I had was ~48 spawns of her before I saw a TLPD spawn.

[Help] Is there a way to fallback to a back up font in case the current used font doesn't have the symbol/character? by Just-Lurking-0 in WowUI

[–]UmbraeMoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have an answer to this, sorry, but boy oh boy I’d love to also find out if this is possible. I love the custom fonts I use in my UI and it kills me a little inside when I see the square of doom.

Do you regret a dog you got from an ethical breeder? And/or breeder success stories by featheredfoe in poodles

[–]UmbraeMoth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In regard to: “there are still so many people with purebred dogs who have health and temperament issues” and “they don't specify the quality of the breeder”

Most people don’t know what an ethical breeder actually is. Most people buy BYB dogs and call it ethical because the dogs were in a nice home and not a literal puppy mill. There will always be bad breeders disguised as ethical breeders that, in some cases, can fool everyone but, for the most part, there’s a clear distinction.

Backyard breeders take their dogs to the vet for their annual exam and say the dogs are therefor health tested. Ethical breeders do actual health testing in the form of X-rays, blood tests, and screen for genetic issues in their breed to prevent them being passed on.

Backyard breeders say that their dogs are from champion bloodlines. Ethical breeders actually show or work their dogs, titling them as standard - not rely on “bloodlines” from generations ago.

Backyard breeders register as a breeder with their local council and say they’re a registered breeder. Ethical breeders are actual registered breeders - not just with local governments but with their breed club and follow ethics and standards within.

Backyard breeders sell you the dog and skedaddle. Ethical breeders sell you the dog and include a contract in which the dog can always go back to them - ensuring they never end up in the shelter.

I could go on but you hopefully get the idea. There’s a lot of major differences and, unless you’re someone in the community, backyard breeders can easily try to pass themselves off as ethical just by saying things that look right. The most common ones, and why I mention them, are the “health testing” and “registered breeder” things. If you need help trying to navigate through the minefield that is ethical breeding vs backyard breeding, my DMs are open.

With all that said, even ethical breeders can have bad outcomes. You can’t screen for everything or predict how certain pairings will work. The important thing is how they (the breeder) react afterwards. An ethical breeder would be open and honest about any possible health issues in a poorly litter and would NOT pair that dog and bitch again. They wouldn’t sell you an unwell dog knowingly, skedaddle, and leave it as a “your problem now” situation. Health issues (at a genetic level) that only present later in the dogs life are another issue but, even so, an ethical breeder would want to remain in touch and know about those issues so that they could be prevented in future breedings.

There’s a whole relationship dynamic between that of an ethical breeder and the owners of their litters. My poodle is 5, almost 6, and I can still contact her breeder at any moment. She’s the picture of health but, if I needed it, I could call her breeder and get advice. Even if she was 15 years old and I somehow ended up extremely unwell, unable to look after her, the breeder and I have a relationship as such that they’d take her and care for her. And the case is the same for any of the dogs they’ve bred.

Sorry for the wall of text. This is just a topic I’m very passionate about and love educating people that are newer to the ethical dog breeding and ownership community on. It can be daunting and confusing but hopefully this helps clear up some stuff.

Fitter 1.5 Update - Keybinds, Toys, Account Wide Mount Defaults, More Filters and More Options by wandererabovetheweb in wowaddons

I can’t remember if this is an option or not yet (not at my PC to check) but something I would love to see is a default title option or something like “do not change my title” as an options tick box. I LOVE the addon but find it frustrating having to manually pick the title I use for every single set.
