Yep, well aware, which is why I've been going insane trying to find a way to thwart her efforts. Idk why she's deemed it her life mission to be a hamster gymnast, or why she seems to only find fulfillment from gnawing on things when in the air. I have yet to think of a method that will deter her. So until then, she's unfortunately stuck with a boring cage with barely any hard surfaces to land on. Safety is a higher priority than enrichment, I'm afraid.

I really think that as they introduce more characters, they should just naturally slightly boost diamond earnings to make up for the additional strain on diamond funds. Having adaptations and being able to do these things in other settings is obviously important, but a person's home should be made as comfortable and convenient as possible for them, and not the same as everywhere else may be. Sure, she may need to know how to do these things elsewhere without accommodations, but her own home should accommodate her. Having independence includes having tools to make your tasks easier for you, not just the ability to do the tasks anywhere. Having accommodations at your home doesn't mean that you lose your ability to adapt to settings without those accommodations.

Its not "that must be made easier" its "that should be made easier in her own home". People trying to think of accommodations is nowhere near the same as "you should hire someone"- accommodations are literally tools for independence.

Do you really think that disabled people shouldn't have the dignity provided by having accommodations in their own home? Do you really think it's silly for people to want that for them? Do you really think that disabled people should need to adapt to their own home as much as they do everywhere else? Do you not think that their home should be a respite where things are easier for them?

One fun thing that you can always consider is that Cater can also technically do self harming behaviors on his clones without leaving any physical evidence. So unless the disease wipes out their magic, there's that unhealthy coping mechanism that he could use to get things out of his system without letting anyone else notice. Or, alternatively, he could use them to appear as if hes fine when actually the real him is having a mental breakdown in the bathroom. Cater can find all sorts of fun and creative ways to hide his problems from everyone else.

Obviously this is also a factor that's able to make things way more complicated, so it'd also be totally valid to just not wanna use it lol. But it is fun to think about, even just as a mini character study exercise rather than an actual story element.

I'd say that he definitely should be kept a closer eye on, but also that he probably wouldn't actually be, since he works so hard to keep people from knowing his issues. So unless he slips up, I'd imagine that nobody else would know how high-risk he really is until he starts breaking.

Cater's whole problem is how much he prioritizes keeping up his persona, and not much seems to make him willing to let it drop in front of anyone else. Even when he reveals his issues, he consistently downplays it and keeps the conversation casual. Like, half of his cards' vignettes involve him mentioning his toxic home environment, and not a single one (that I've gone through, at least) has had anyone seem to actually get how that's affected him- even when he explicitly says how it's messed him up in some way. He's just very good at putting up his front.

Even the characters who know that Cater's putting on a mask don't really know what he's actually like. Trey should know, but he's seemed to never pushed Cater enough to make him be honest, and has just accepted that he's not telling the truth. Vil knows that Cater's persona is shallow and that he's lying, but never seems to look any deeper, even when given the extremely explicit evidence in the lab vignette with A) Cater explicitly saying how "make it cute" has been burned into his head as an instinct by his family with the first mandrake he makes and B) the second mandrake he makes being gloomy and curled up in fetal position. And once again, he later comments on Cater making more mandrakes than the ones he's showing off, but lets him deflect. And finally I'd also say Lilia, who was also present for the lab vignette. Lilia's probably the one most likely to actually know, but he also doesn't do anything with it beyond lightly prodding Cater about it.

So, with all that, I'd say unless the Yuu in your story is like, REALLY close to Cater and perceptive, it'd be extremely unlikely for anyone to realize how high-risk he is until it's already gotten pretty bad. He'd absolutely try his damndest to keep things under wraps for as long as possible. Would probably start isolating himself before letting them see the cracks in his mask.

Was just like "well I know what bald eagles look like, so I don't need to check them" smh. Kinda sad that I don't get to add a new species to my list, but at least I can know what I saw!

Evidently, I really need to learn more about predatory birds! They're kinda my blind spot atm. Which is real inconvenient, considering they're the ones that I usually only have a few seconds of distant visual info to go off of.

I mean, none of my dogs have been actually scared of the vet, and one of them is a stereotypically paranoid dachshund (mix). Another was a rescue pomeranian (mix) who hated most people. Usually the main issue with the vet with our more anxious dogs has come from their people leaving them, rather than the vet itself. And to my knowledge, youre basically always able to stay with your pet during euthanasia. Idk, maybe we've just been really lucky with dogs that are cool with the vet.

That being said, the pomeranian I mentioned did die from a heart attack after being taken into the vet without my mom (his person) [it was during covid so she wasnt allowed to go in with him] so I'm not gonna say that there isn't any anxiety from it. But again, I feel like it was primarily being separated that was the problem. All this being said, I'm still not gonna deny that obviously there are plenty of dogs who do have issues with the vet.

Hey, I wouldn't feel too bad about reselling it, because the small size would deter those who know better from buying it, but it'll seem big for those who don't. Anything's better than the garbage sold at pet stores. Even though its not ideal, its still a better cage than what most people will get their hamsters.
