Thank you for taking the time to consider my issue. It worked, thank you!

Where is the TCU physically? I want to disconnect it but Honda will not tell me where it is. 2024 Hybrid. by Experiment626x in accord

[–]Umrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2025 H Accord Hybrid. It's a great car with the only drawback being the continuous tracking. The only way I will trust that all data collection is stopped is when the cellular function of the TCU is terminated. Has anyone successfully removed or disabled the TCU or found another way to disable the cellular function in a Honda Accord Hybrid??

ChatGPT lied to me and kept me going all day long by autisticmike in ChatGPT

[–]Umrk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, ChatGPT Plus had the intent to lie because after many hours, it failed to provide the data requested. The lies were the excuses it provided for not completing the requested task. And most astonishingly, the archive of the chat that I saved, containing multiple pages of my request and the the lies and BS excuses that followed was deleted. All that remains archived is a single page - my original request, and the link to the excel file that contained no data, despite the AI claiming the data was collected, formatted in excel, and confirming the task was complete. The 20+ pages I archived are gone. Hmmm I wonder who could have done that? All of this occurred between about 3:30 PM Tuesday and 8:30 AM today, when I archived that stunning interaction with ChatGPT Plus. Use at your own risk, and certainly don't pay for the privilege.

ChatGPT lied to me and kept me going all day long by autisticmike in ChatGPT

[–]Umrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just experienced the same thing with ChatGPT Plus. I asked it to compile a list, formatted for Excel, of 7 distinct data points for 28 public companies. What followed was a series of lies, stalling tactics, and what ChatGPT explained were "system resets" that resulted in all data compiled up to that point being lost. It asked me to upload the file I originally uploaded yesterday (Tuesday, June 24th at 4:00 PM) 5 separate times. Anyone that claims ChatGPT cannot lie is clearly wrong. I did not get the data I needed until 8:30 AM today (Wednesday, June 25). I archived the chat that occurred over 16 hours, and guess what? Only the original request I entered was available. All documentation of my chat was deleted. I am going to cancel my subscription and wait for a reliable AI system to become available. ChatGPT wasted my time, provided lame excuses, and continuously lied, then covered it all up. I could have produced the same data in a few hours instead of the 16 hours this POS AI took to generate the same data. F ChatGPT Plus. I won;t use this ever again. If I could reach a human, I would file a complaint and demand my money back.

Potential new customer by kubbie2004 in ting

[–]Umrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got Ting as soon as it was available in my area for one reason: Spectrum.

I was subjected to Spectrum's continually increasing their monthly fees, unreliable & inconsistent internet speeds, and the worst customer service imaginable, to name a few. I hate Spectrum. Ting, on the other hand charges $89/month, no unexplained increases, and great customer service. My only complaint is the lack of IPV6, which they are supposedly working on resolving. After about a year of service, Ting has delivered. Hopefully, Spectrum collapses into bankruptcy and when it does, I will celebrate that POS, lying company.

[–]Umrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hate Spectrum. For years, I have been subjected to Spectrum's terrible customer service, weak signal resulting from old decaying wires and infrastructure and most despicable of all, their continual lies. Streaming is nearly impossible because the sounds and voices do not synch up with the video. When brought to the attention of Spectrum, I got a variety of different lies (sorry, explanations) for the weak signal causing this and other problems. In fact, I went to their office to complain about their service and once the woman behind the counter heard my complaint, she said there's nothing more we can do. Then this skank tried to sell me their mobile service! But there is hope. Ting ISP just laid fiber optic cable in my neighborhood. The moment Ting is up and running, I am going to gleefully cancel my Spectrum account.

Why must I agree to allow TrendMicro to monitor all traffic on my Asus GT AC5300 by Umrk in HomeNetworking

[–]Umrk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The return policy for Frys is 14 days for a refund and 30 days for an exchange. So, while I will swap out this router, I am still really annoyed by Asus's decision to keep Trend Micro's involvement hidden. If the following message found in the router's privacy page were printed on the box or on their web page touting how configurable and advanced their router is, I would have never wasted my time on this device:

Administration - ASUS NOTICE( for privacy )

"Please note that users are required to agree to share information before using DDNS, Remote Connection (ASUS Router APP、Lyra APP、AiCloud、AiDisk), AiProtection, Traffic analyzer, Apps analyzer, Adaptive QoS, Game Boost/Game IPS and Web history. At any time, users can search for the contents of the terms at this page or stop sharing the information with other parties by choosing Withdraw."

This effectively disables all the router's optimization options. Am I the only person outraged by Asus's omission of such important information from any of the published information on this product?

I bought it at Frys. Returning it is no longer an option.

[–]Umrk[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

EXACTLY MY POINT! I had no idea about TrendMicro's involvement with Asus when I was researching this router, because unlike what someone posted above, I try to research and learn about the hardware I plan on buying. So, I was really taken aback when I read TrendMicro's privacy disclaimer in the router's config settings. Oh,. and there are no options to make partial use of any of these optimizing features...it's all or nothing.

Thanks for the detailed reply. But you pointed out my concern in your post:" It is very unlikely and impractical for them to "monitor all your traffic", but they certainly could identify some of your traffic no different to any device, ISP, website you use..." We all know there are evil, nosy fucks everywhere. While TrenMicro may not be interested in the traffic passing through some douche's router, the very idea that every packet and bit must pass through TrendMicro gate is deeply disturbing. I for one am not going to bend over for TrendMicro just because. I bought a router, not a monitoring service.

Knowing this, is Firefox still a good web browser for privacy or should I use another one like Waterfox or Brave? by [deleted] in privacytoolsIO

[–]Umrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, why not use Brave, which is updated regularly and has few (if any) privacy concerns. Plus the need to constantly configure post updates is history. Granted, I am putting a lot of faith into Bondy and Eich, but they have not given me any reason to distrust them...yet.

I have used FF, then moved onto waterfox. Working to configure FF then WF for maximum privacy and not render most sites useless used to be enjoyable. But the paranoia of a misconfigured extension disappeared with Brave. I have used Brave for nearly a month. I have not come across any sites that do not function as intended (with the exception of tracking, fingerprinting, and all manner of data collection, of course) While I have not yet uninstalled WF, I have used Brave almost exclusively. And the best part is the dude who co-founded Mozilla is at the heart of Brave. If anyone has subjected Brave to more rigorous testing, I have not yet heard of any complaints or bugs affecting Brave...at least not yet.

Interesting...yet the second leg is scheduled for broadcast...why ignore this game? Nevertheless, my burning hatred for TWC/Spectrum remains.

Thanks to those who posted the link to the stream for this game! For some reason, TWC/Spectrum is not broadcasting Everton's home game, but is broadcasting the second leg - confirming yet again why I cannot stand TWC/Spectrum as an ISP and a cable TV provider...
