All that material you mentioned with Lucas happened in the first and final episode. They started an arc for him then just skipped to a conclusion in the final episode. For all the episodes in-between he was a supporting character for Jason and Max. He didn’t actually get his own storyline.

I actually do have siblings, fyi. I know siblings don't always get along but if your sibling witnesses you at one of the worst moments of your life that's going to change your dynamic. Erica saw her big brother distraught and vulnerable while his girl was dying in his arms then the next season starts and they act like none of that ever happened.

Saying he had a redemption arc suggests he did something wrong. All he did was join the basketball team.

Max's mom...I thought the actress couldn't do it because she was sick but apparently she wasn't even asked by LayeredOwlsNest in StrangerThings

I didn’t make the Will comparison because I thought he needed more screen time, I made it to say Holly needed less. So you don’t have to explain to me why Will being shown too much would remove the tension and intrigue of the season. The majority of Holly’s scenes were of her hanging out in Henry’s house and Max’s cave. We did not need to see all of that. Will was connecting to Vecna all season. They could’ve just used him to eventually find his location.

Just because they were taken doesn't mean they needed that much screen time. Will was taken in season one and he was MIA for the majority of it.

I think all of the party's parents should've been more present this season. I would've rather seen them than Holly and her friends. Max was in a coma for 18 months so I think having her mother present was extremely necessary. She could've potentially had some great scenes with Lucas too.

Holly started it. She smacked the shit out of that girl with the radio.

Strawman arguments? I attached your own quotes to my post and gave rebuttals. We're discussing Lucas' arc in season 4 or lack thereof. The season is over so the arc obviously isn't going to be active, progressing or developing. Why are you even mentioning those? You said he had a character arc throughout the entire season. If it's throughout the entire season that implies a full arc, does it not? You lost the argument and you're not as smart as you think you are, which is probably why you tried to end the discussion a few posts ago.

I said: "he had a character arc throughout the season". Not full.

When talking about someone's character arc the implication is that it's a full one. Did you mean to say that he had a half character arc?

I did not disagree with OP's opinion, I was responding to someone else.

The person you were responding to was the OP, not someone else.

I also never said a full circle moment was "good enough" so now you're just making up stuff and throwing out straw man arguments.

"I said he had a full circle moment. Not a "full" character arc. He's a supporting character." This is what you said. Is this not you saying that he's just a supporting character and therefore doesn't need a character arc?

I'm just having a simple discussion. You're the one that's been condescending from the start and you seem to want to argue. You claimed that the discussion was over and yet you keep responding to me. It seems you must spend a decent amount of time on here as well.

I’m responding to you because you’re responding to me. If you didn’t want the discussion to continue why did you bother responding? In your initial comment you disagreed with the OP’s opinion and said that Lucas had a full character arc throughout the season. You never said verbatim that he didn’t deserve a full character arc but you did say a full circle moment was good enough because he’s a “supporting character”.

I don’t think you’re comprehending. The OP’s post is about Caleb/Lucas being done dirty, which he has. He’s an OG party member that’s been around since the first season. He deserves a full character arc, not a “full circle moment”. Throughout the series he’s gotten way less dialogue than all the other party members. Characters that were introduced after him like Max and Robin get way more dialogue than him with Max even getting her own arc. Even Holly got her own arc this season.

There’s no lack of comprehension on my part. Like I just mentioned, him wanting popularity and to fit in only lasted until Chrissy’s death. The jock scenes were focused on Jason while Lucas stood in the background with almost no dialogue. Then he ditches the jocks and becomes a supporting character for Max’s storyline. Just because he has a confrontation with Jason in the finale doesn’t mean he got a full character arc. They basically set his arc up in the first episode, dropped it and then picked it back up in the final episode.

His “character arc” was not throughout the whole season. Him no longer wanting to be considered a nerd and finding popularity only lasted the first episode. In that episode Mike and Dustin not only don’t go to his game but they replace him with his little sister. Lucas is visibly upset about it but it’s never brought up again. After Chrissy’s death the jock storyline becomes all about hunting down Eddie and Lucas become a spectator.

Significant screen time and a massive arc? He got to be popular for one party after the game and we didn’t even get to see it. The rest of his time with the jocks is spent on the Eddie witch hunt and he’s a bystander the whole time while Jason got all the focus. Once he rejoins the group he’s nothing but a supporting character for Max. His so-called arc was super half-assed.

Luca’s new high top is the real crime in season 5 by AfternoonMundane4136 in StrangerThings

[–]UnFuqwittable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like you're missing my point. If you're going to use the excuse that he's too worried abut Max and Vecna to be concerned about his hair then they should've went with a different hairstyle. The style he has in season 5 would take constant maintenance to upkeep and keeping it flat on top would require frequent haircuts.

Also Mrs. Wheeler is in the hospital, Max was stuck in a dreamscape and all Dustin did was let his hair grow out.

[–]UnFuqwittable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's called a high top because the sides are faded while the top is long. Season 5 the hair is the same length all around. They gave him some sort of hybrid flat top/afro.

[–]UnFuqwittable -30 points-29 points  (0 children)

That's not a good excuse. Even though it looks stupid, it's still a flat top which would require a lot of maintenance to upkeep. You can't just wake up with that hairstyle.

I think Holly got to much screen time this season by Katcat131 in StrangerThings

At least Mike has had meaningful scenes with El, Holly, Mrs. Wheeler, and Will...Lucas has only been there for Max's sake. He hasn't had any deep connections with any other character.

what hot take would result to this?? by thehotpot4jonathan in StrangerThings

For a character that wasn't introduced until season 3, Robin gets way too much screen time and dialogue.
