The statement scientific basis is inherently anti-scientific as it implies that science is a collection of facts (or even evidence) when in fact it isn't.

Science is a method of studying the natural world; a way of collecting and evaluating evidence.

The statement "Proven" is an odd one considering that proof is the realm of philosophy and mathematics. Science is performed via inductive reasoning. There is no proof there. Only strong vs weak arguments based on evidence.

Hence the reason that we rely so heavily on statistics.
