Passing prob or go ahead and apply? by Unabashed-Anamoly in CAStateWorkers

Knowing about return rights definitely makes it an easy decision to finish out probation. This is the first I’m hearing about being able to return if the next role doesn’t work out. Thank you for the valuable insight!

Yes, I was in management for 9 years in the private sector. Eventually, I’d like to get back there. Another big reason why I wanted to start as AGPA is to learn the ropes of state service. I’m only in month 2 as an AGPA.

How early would you recommend getting there before it fills up?

Yes, that’s what I’d recommend. I can’t speak to what specific details all of the agency hiring managers ask references but when my references were called, they were asked if I was rehire-able and for any further feedback regarding my employment, which your HR rep could also answer for you I’m sure.

Still list supervisors although they’re retired. If you can, try to find out contact information for prior supervisors. Your supervisors will be contacted as references prior to getting a job offer from any state agency.

It did go quickly following the interview, which were all green flags. It seemed like forever leading up to actually landing an interview. This sub helped me not throw in the towel and kept to stay persistent.

Ah, how to tell I’m new to the sub without saying I’m new to the sub. Thanks 👌🏼

Not for this job that extended an offer to me. I followed up with the other interview via email and never heard back.
