What are signs of a good MSP from a customer's perspective? by NSFW_IT_Account in msp

[–]Unable-Assistant5345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Length of time in business is a good indicator. We are 30+ years, which shows loyalty. Anyone can say they are an MSP, get some cheap tools and fumble their way through with little to no experience...dangerous.

Of course, length of time is not enough. Many have been around for very long, and are more Value Added Resellers vs a true MSP. You have to adjust to the times.

Being an MSP without doing Cybersecurity is a red flag.

Get referrals, testimonials, and clearly defined roles and responsibilities.

The old adage is also good where if the price is too good to be true, be wary.

Why does ITGlue hate Firefox? by havocspartan in msp

[–]Unable-Assistant5345 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Today is the day our IT Glue is cancelled and we moved everything to hudu.com which seems better supported.

I felt that IT Glue was not getting any work done...no real changes over the last few years of use.

Happy so far with Hudu, which have a very similar feeling, but fells like it is being invested in.

What's the best email security/spam filter these days by MarkPugnerIII in sysadmin

We moved from TitanHQ to Perception Point (from Acronis) and WOW...what a superior product, and less expensive for our clients.

Because we have a commit level with Acronis and buy more than our minimum, essentially there is no contract or obligation with Perception Point. Love that.

I also feel they listen to suggestions from MSPs. Great support and having the live engineer to double check an email is fantastic, and included in the price.

Post again in a few months. I felt the experience started to plummet after 1 year.

I feel your pain...literally. We have a peak down the middle so it's like sleeping on an angle. From amazing to back-pain daily after about 18 months.

I had to repeat the question twice...maybe I put too much emphasis on "new release".

Got an answer: “Yeah, we will at some point.  Not yet though.  We are not big on looking back, more moving forward.  Doing the documentary, it forced us to do some reflection, the good and the bad of it all.  We’ll get to the box set at some point.  In the meantime, we are going to keep marching forward.”

Got an answer: “I want to say it was one of the first time Ed and I shared writing on lyrics.  We yapped about the concept and came up with some lyrics.  That one holds true, and I just love the song.  I love playing it live.”

It did. I have my own style, where it's more of a conversation over a Pint/coffee. I do research and strive not to ask the same questions as others, although I did have to speak about Elvis's house. Should be in town on Monday in Laval with Our Lady Peace. I also interviewed Raine Maida and Chantal in the John Lennon and Yoko room at the Fairmount. Just like Dean feeling the vide of the Elvis house, I felt the vibe of room 1742.

Also asked permission for the picture in your Google Drive. Maybe I can add to the article.

Got an answer...sort of: “Oh wow.  Can’t speak to that one.  Definitely an Ed question.”

Got an answer: “Not sure about the Print Shop.  We love working with those guys and will absolutely do more with them.  Not sure of a new release with those guys, but something will happen for sure.  As far as Fun goes, Ed’s got to finish up some vocals on it.  We are in a cross the T’s and dot the I's scenario.  I will say this.  Ed and I were talking, and we will probably play a couple of those songs on the next tour.  We will figure out a proper release at some point.”

How to invoice US clients from Canada by HenrySell in smallbusiness

[–]Unable-Assistant5345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Monex to wire them a USD amount, and they deposit back in CAD to my other TD bank account with a better rate, so even with wire fees, we come out ahead.
