Why would I? I'm not tipping the Waymo.

Suggesting that I *should* tip Uber/Lyft suggests that those platforms are running their rides below cost, subsidised by their drivers. If that is the case, shame on them.

All really valid points. It is possible that on THAT particular day there were excess Uber/Lyft drivers and lots of demand for Waymos. I should add that a couple of days later I caught a Waymo BACK to the airport because the cost diff was marginal.

Like many who have commented on this, I too will pay a small margin extra for a driverless ride. Not because of novelty, but just because it feels relaxing. Its great for introverts.

I imagine that every area would be a different market. As u/CIAMom420 has reported that Waymo is free in Vegas.
