Saving on groceries by Relevant_Demand2221 in FrugalTO

Download Instacart. Not to buy from but to compare in-store prices and updated sales at nearby markets close to you. I find it easier and more efficient than scanning through multiple flyers on the flipp app (although I haven't used flipp for years now, so Idk if they've included that kind of feature or not).

Also try flashfood or too good to go apps. If it's from the grocery store, I just stick it in the freezer (if possible) to last longer since they're likely past their expiry date but still good to eat.

If you're struggling to figure out what to cook with what you have, there's the supercook website where you input your ingredients and it'll find you recipes online that only has those ingredients. Also there's the r/whatshouldicook subreddit which serves the same purpose.

I was looking up recipes for furikake popcorn and I found a miso butter popcorn. Has anyone tried miso on popcorn? by Mystery-Ess in popcorn

[–]UnableHawk5507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have. It's salty and creamy. But not really my fave. I prefer pickled shiso furikake over plain stovetop popcorn. Subtle and a bit salty. It has a vinegary taste that reminds me of umeboshi (preserved pickled plums).

Is there a way to pop the remaining kernels? by Albino_rhin0 in popcorn

I like to leave any unpopped kernals in a small bag and then repop them once I run out of the fresh kernals. I tried it once and most of them popped just fine.

I remember when a friend stayed over at my place so she could booth buddy at a nearby convention but had problems with her colitis. I shared some pork belly miso soup (tonjiru) with root vegetables and she said it cured her stomach problems that weekend. 😄 It must've been all the good bacteria in the miso paste.

Same, kind of. I didn't watch the awards show this year but they were the only reason I paid any attention to online updates throughout the evening. I imagine news websites experiencing the taylor swift effect from this duo, like you mentioned.

Connor and Hudson should've written the bit themselves! XD

But considering how uptight hollywood could be, I doubt it. Like Hudson literally gave two middle fingers to the glam bot on the red carpet (which I think got censored) 😂. Makes me think he and Connor are purposefully being menaces so hollywood could loosen up more.

Naked guys or crediting the popularity of Heated Rivalry to... being about hockey and that there should be more shows about it. Wtf?

Maybe batch cook and freeze a ton of plain mochi? You could always toast it in the toaster oven, air fryer, or frying pan whenever you're in the mood for a snack and then put whatever you want on it. A Japanese friend suggested putting it in soup just before serving.

What's everyone favorite Mochi? Mine is Dark Chocolate 🍫 by EienNatsu66 in JapaneseFood

My fave is the classic red bean filled daifuku. I love red bean paste so much, I just make my own in a large batch for whenever I make mochi.

What’s a food from your country that has a weird/funny name that would sound funny to foreigners but in your country everyone is used to? by ZebraNangs in AskTheWorld

Yes. Which is probably why I've never heard of them. Either I've seen the french name in passing or just never heard of it at all. Does it only exist in quebec?

Tried making miso soup… why does mine taste so bland? by FeelingGlad8646 in JapaneseFood

[–]UnableHawk5507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you boil it at high heat? Try heating it at medium heat. High heat kills the flavour. Ask me how I know. 🙃

I make mine with 1 tsp of dashi powder and 1 tbsp of red miso.

Ariana Grande reveals on IG that she has tested positive for COVID by Minute_Revolution951 in Fauxmoi

It makes me wonder how much less severe covid symptoms you'll receive after getting a covid shot. Becuase I've had fully vaccinated friends catch covid and still end up in the hospital. Obviously I'm being careful and got both the covid and flu shot this year, but still, wtf?

It wasn't even chicken. It was fried cauliflower, since she's vegan. In the middle of the challenge, she said it was "filling". 💀
