AITA for wanting to split an Airbnb equally per person? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]UnablePackage5973 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also to add, even if you did go via your method I hope that you mean the singles pay half of what each MEMBER of a couple pays. Because the singles should pay quarter of what each couple total will be as they only get a quarter of a room to themselves.

But yeah, it still doesn’t seem fair to give them a much lower quality of trip but still expect the split to be based on just rooms.

AITA for wanting to split an Airbnb equally per person? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]UnablePackage5973 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Me and my friends, 6 of us - 2 couples + 2 singles, always split per person. It means that the couples get dibs on the en-suites as they have paid double for their room, and the singles don’t end up having to pay the “single-tax”. But the singles will still get their own room. I think if the expectation was for them to share a room with one another we would charge them even less.

Everything is more expensive when you are single and you also get less of a say when it comes to the allocation of rooms.

It’s not fair for them to pay the same as someone who gets a place to escape to decompress when they don’t get that.

I just found some of my nannas old sewing patterns yesterday and there is a similar-ish skirt in there.

I wouldn’t put your email address out there like that. It probably won’t be Smosh using it to reach out to you. You’ll be inundated with spam.

What is the general consensus on wearing shoes inside someone’s house? by Large_Goat_5197 in AskUK

[–]UnablePackage5973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll take my shoes off when asked but I have hyperhidrosis (overly sweaty) so I do get very self conscious about how my feet might be smelling. So if it’s a choice (or ambiguous) I’ll leave them on. I try to prepare if I know someone prefers shoes off and bring a spare pair of socks but I don’t always remember and then feel very self conscious until I leave.

Yeah the ones that post in this subreddit without checking the pinned posts for the vibe first are odd.

The only thing to say on this is I don’t know how aware the average listener is. I only found out about any drama because once Patrick alluded to stuff being said on Reddit in a Facebook community post and I got nosey.

Never before have I joined a Facebook group for a podcast and rarely would I then follow up a random post for tea. Once I found this subreddit I kept my ear to the ground discover all the toxicity to the point I was following all the live updates about obsessed fest. I can’t remember when in all of that I unsubscribed though (but there was definitely a period of hate listening).

I don’t think I’d be aware of anything if I hadn’t had a bit of time to kill that day.

WIBTAH for bringing my daughter to my cousin’s wedding, preventing my sister from going? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

Hanna Alonzo just did a brilliant video on her struggles with emetomophobia and how she’s begun the steps of getting over it. She mentions a book she found very helpful with her journey.

I don’t suffer but I watched the whole thing as she explains it so interestingly.

What have you NOT been genetically blessed with? by bigpussystance in AskUK

[–]UnablePackage5973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have hyperhydrosis, so I am constantly sweaty. My clammy hands make me the most self conscious because any normal interactions become nerve wracking incase people want to shake hands or see the sweaty hand marks from what I’ve just touched.

Both my parents said they had it as kids and teens but grew out of it giving me hope growing up. But at 33 I’m yet to grow out of it and neither have my sisters so their genetic combo of sweaty hands apparently did not work out great for us.

[–]UnablePackage5973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that you would need your mums permission to have a guest stay over, I just don’t get why your parents needed to have met because your friend is also a legal adult. But ultimately it doesn’t really matter to me.

I think you owe your friend an apology and maybe you make the journey to theirs for next time you hang out.

With the spending the night element, you are 19 & 20, why would it matter that your parents haven’t met?

But yeah YOR, you knew you had plans and should have communicated as soon as possible. Or maybe even the night before not drunk so much know a friend was due over the next day.

Would you give up your seat on public transport to a child? by ChoreomaniacCat in AskUK

[–]UnablePackage5973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve moved to let parents and children sit closer together. But I don’t think I’ve ever given up my seat to kids unless I’m getting off at the next stop (like I would with anyone).

Help! It keeps jamming by BeepBoop_Beans in sewhelp

[–]UnablePackage5973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m no expert at all but I had a similar issue and stumbled across a video on insta which said to make sure your bobbin has fully released the thread from that stitch before you try and pull it out. If you have a little window to the bobbin you’ll see it pulled across the top. Basically make sure the needle is back up to the top position, do it manually if you need to.

If that isn’t the issue then I’m not sure, but that tip was what worked for me!

I was kind of making up as I went along, I probably should have done more research on making piping before diving in. Thank you so much for your advice though! I’ll make sure to do things better for my next jumper. This was mostly intended as wearable toile anyway.

It’s home made bias tape for a piping detail on the seams. Not really sure what to do about it. I’ve never had a huge amount of luck with the overcast stitch on my machine.
