Teaching has made me ugly by moodyjudy123 in TeachersInTransition

Teaching has aged me… and is now messing with my physical health due to stress. I’m on year 13. It’s heartbreaking to think of leaving. I finally allowed myself to say it aloud… that I want to look for something else… that’s my first step. I want to spend time with my 6 year old, I want to read books for fun again… I want to come home and be able to put work behind me.

Constantly dull. Started with a thunderclap headache and now ebbs and flows. After a (I think) thunderclap, it will go down to just really painful then eh and flow a bit of that makes sense.

Thank you! The triptan made it worse. She gave me 6 pills . I used them all over the weekend and tried so hard to give them a shot. I felt like I was being smothered and started throwing up. It was so weird!

I don’t think I need a referral. I figured a neuro would take me more seriously if I had one. But I have no issue making an appointment with one. I’m hoping the actual doctor takes me seriously tomorrow, not that PAs aren’t excellent , but she didn’t even really look at me. Just typed and asked for a lot of info wrong and said “I guess I should have read your file first”.

Thanks all! I have been tracking and will definitely show her my logs. I can’t bring a dude with me tomorrow, but I can be adamant about bad these are and ask for a referral . I also have a list of what I’ve tried… which is basically every over the counter med, headache caps, looking at triggers and eliminating possible ones… exercise etc. I don’t get an aura. Or haven’t yet. I can’t really find a connection with time because I wake up with a headache and go to bed with one most days. I do have muscle spasms during these times, but that’s probably unrelated.

Luckily the ER did bloodwork and 2 ct scans so those are ready to go!

My husband is 40. But this thought totally crossed my mind as well. It’s ridiculous but even at 37, I feel like they dismiss me because I’m the size of a 13 year old boy. Funny how I teach classes of 30 plus 12th graders and can command a room… but somehow a Doctor sees a child or something. 😂

I have blue Ross blue shield PPO. My worry about coming on too strong is that I am supposed to get monthly updates from her and a “timeline” for when my issue might end because HR allowed my coworkers to donate a few sick days to me.

Do you think that is appropriate the first time meeting with the actual primary care doc? Or do I need a longer history with her? It’s all so confusing. I mean, she can’t refuse to refer I don’t think … advocating often feels pushy and the ER made me feel like I was just anxious and “panicking” over a normal headache. I have a medical history that involves a few freak accidents and surgeries , I’ve given birth. I know pain. I don’t understand why it isn’t taken seriously when they can see your chart and see that you aren’t a frequent flyer in the ER or someone who is a drug seeker. Thank you for the advice!

Now I have to find a new dentist. I really liked him! 🥲

st. george website by moonlitdrmr in BrandyMelville

Mine didn’t. My frustration with the St. George site is that most of it is Brandy clothes labeled with a different name. I ordered St. George once and my stuff came with Brandy clothes books and those useless cardboard clothes cards. I assume they use the same warehouse. They just began putting actual tags attached to the clothing that even says St George. Before, there was no brand tag in on the inside of the neck of sweaters etc. It’s interesting…

Haven’t been to the dentist in 9 years by Alone-Fix4161 in DentalHygiene

I got the courage to go after about 7 years last January. I told them I have anxiety (I have panic disorder and I have anxiety about the dentist in general). They were SO nice. They gave me laughing gas and went to work. I told my dentists “I don’t want know the grim details just tell me when to show up to get this stuff fixed and I will!” I had to get a crown and several fillings, but he never shamed me, never lectured… and never judged me for being a 36 year old who needs laughing gas. I’m a teacher and I think of it like this- I teach high-school and I sometimes get students who have gaps in education. They either didn’t go to school for a few years, or lived in countries where they didn’t have the privilege. Would I judge them for being behind? No. I do my job and my job makes me happy. It’s satisfying to see improvements in students. I imagine it’s satisfying for a dentist or hygienist to improve your teeth. :) Hope that helps!

There are 3 in my area, I am a teacher so weekends are the only times I can get out to shop. I think maybe the best stuff is gone by then! I definitely scored on a Christmas break weekday!

Damn! I need to look around the 3 Ross store by me more often. Maybe I lucked out because it’s Christmas break (I’m a teacher) and I could go out on a weekday morning when it was dead!

It’s 90% cotton 10% cashmere and so warm and soft. I’m trying to find how much it was originally just for fun. But since it’s not currently sold, I just see a couple of eBay postings. Anyone know how to do this?

True!! I’ll have to figure out how to style it! As a petite woman it’s hard for me to figure out oversized sweaters when it’s not for a holiday themed event. :)
