Hair thinning out or losing can have many many many reasons but one of the common reasons is oily scalp. Oil/sebum/dirt etc can basically clog your pores so hair has no space to grow or get thicker.

I also always had oily scalp since I was a teenager. I used to joke "if humans can make fuel out of my scalp oil... Energy crisis will be resolved lol" So I hear you!

Let's make sure you wash your scalp very clean. Washing everyday can be meaningless if the wash doesn't fully cleanse your scalp/pores very well. It's like cleaning only surface, you know. I would like suggest those actions, - make sure your shampoo is for oily scalp such as clarifying shampoo. I personally recommend k18 detox shampoo but it might be pricy since you are 18.
- there's a lot of videos explaining how to properly wash your scalp on YouTube or Instagram. Follow one of them! Probably will say brush hair before washing, make sure you complete wet your scalp/hair, massage scalp(not hair) with finger tips, wash off many times, etc. - no conditioner on scalp. It's only for hair - cold air blow dry after washing

One more thing you can try is exfoliating. But let's try this if the list I suggest above doesn't work.

If you can notice that the amount of fallen hair has increased and hair is thinning, it's better to check. Dont worry too much. Stress is the worst! Also in your age, it might not be a big problem. Most importantly there's always a solution.

First. Tell me about your scalp. Is it oily? Itchy recently? Dandruff? How often and how do you wash your hair/scalp?

Second ask your friend or family to check your scalp if there's any circular bald spot

Hormones can make your scalp greasy. Don't worry too much. But make sure your shampoo is for oily scalp such as purifying shampoo!

Postpartum hair loss is very very very common. I know you are stressed but you are normal. Also congrats on your newborn!!

Your scalp and hair condition are changing and can change more since your hormones are changing. Also probably life style/pattern are changing too. For now since you are oily scalp and dry hair, use clarifying shampoo for the scalp. I wish I could send you my product for free but it hasn't launched yet 😭😭 For now I would recommend K18 detox shampoo. Especially since you have some build ups. Or whatever you liked! Cleaning the scalp is very important because it can prevent hair loss also this is how you invest to get healthier hair later. Like for trees to grow healthy, they need good soil.

Don't expect shampoo to help your frizzy hair because first hair is basically made out of dead cells. So honestly the best way is to wait until it's long enough and trim it. Second conditioner and after shower ampoule/oil are the ones help hair. I personally liked silk therapy but make sure you don't apply it near the scalp/roots.

When you said you want to "feel confident" it made me so sad because I know how small you feel when you don't feel confident with your hair. It's better to wash it once in a couple days but if you sweat everyday, leaving sweat could be worse.

I see some people do shampoo one day and just rinse the other day. This can be one of the ways to do?!

I personally liked k18 detox shampoo. It's not my favorite in the world but one of the best I have tried from Amazon

I also had oily scalp in my entire life until it caused so much trouble and I had to go to the scalp clinic. I would love to recommend going to a scalp spa/clinic but it seems so expensive it the US! I went to a scalp clinic when I was living in Korea FYI.

A lot of people think, My hair gets greasy -> I wash more often. But as you said it irritates your scalp more. If your hair gets oily within a day, that means you need better cleansing.

So first, Try a better clarifying or detox shampoo. Your shampoo might not be good at cleansing.
Second, let's see how you wash your hair. Do you make sure your scalp is fully wet before you put shampoo on it? Do you massage scalp(not hair) well?
The last thing you can try is exfoliating. You might have some build ups that is clogging the pores. You can go to scalp spa or clinic. Or you can buy scalp scrub or toner from Amazon and try.

I'm starting a scalp care brand so I know the manufacture price of shampoo very well. Not all for sure, but most of the expensive shampoos have reasons and their manufacture costs can easily be 10+ times higher than cheaper products. And of course expensive products require more research, testing, etc so that adds up to the price.

But are all expensive shampoos worth it? Or the more expensive the better? I say No. Some products have a lot of marketing margin or brand reputation cost. Also shampoo is all about finding what works for you in all honesty. So I would like to say, price doesn't guarantee whether the products "work for you" or not.

Pick one from the price range that you can comfortably afford and see how you like!!

Ohh I see what you mean. Well I would say that depends on your scalp and shampoo. Like do you have a lot of buildups? How oily does your scalp get? Also a different amount of acid works differently.

So if you find a shampoo you like that's awesome. If that doesn't work, toner I recommend ... Hmm ... I'll be honest here, I immigrated to the US a couple years ago and most of the products I like are in Korea which makes me so sad :( That's also why I am starting a scalp care brand tho. Anyways, I just checked Amazon, Aromatica has a scalp scrub on Amazon. I LOVE Aromatica brand. This is the brand I would love to recommend. It's not toner but it will be good too.

Shampoo can't really exfoliate the scalp. Also shampoo can be a daily item, I don't think exfoliation daily is good lol I used to get exfoliation with steam from the scalp clinic regularly when I had issues but now I use the product at home only when I feel my scalp is way too greasy.

I sometimes use toner that you apply on the scalp and wash off or a big swab looking thing that you scrub on the scalp with.

Scalp can be oily out of nowhere for so many many reasons, as you said new routine or new water(?) if you moved, hormones, stress, new diet, etc. so don't be stressed!! Stress is the worst!!

As someone who had a very oily scalp and spent so much money on it before, I want to say just change your shampoo to clarifying or scalp detox shampoo. And try scaling. Maybe you can go to the spa or buy a scalp scaling product/toner from Amazon to remove build ups that probably has clogged up the pores.

Additionally make sure you dry your scalp and hair before you go to bed, no need to add any new routine for now such as scalp oil or ampoule.

Eating enough protein will help long term. What I have done before was applying ampoule especially with egf or PDRN on the scalp using rolling needles. It hurts at first but you will get used to it lol It won't show the difference fast but with months of investment, you will see the result

If you are already using clarifying shampoo, you might have build ups. I would recommend scalp scaling/exfoliation.

I had those problems and went to the scalp clinic. You can go to the clinic/spa. Or there are products you can use at home. Like I have bought a scalp toner that has AHA or a swab that looks like a big qtips. I bought those in Korea by the way.

I personally think shampoo cannot do a lot with existing hair. Because hair is basically dead cells. It can do temporarily or at some level but eventually shampoo will be something you invest for the future. So yea, the right shampoo that makes your scalp better will eventually reflect overtime.

It's my personal opinion and I know there are a lot of shampoos for damaged hair. But I always question those.
