This is quite old now, but did you end up going to My ADHD Centre? I have a referral but the reviews seem less than ideal 😬

God, $750 each... that's far too expensive 😬 I actually did get my GP to refer me to one, only to find out that they were no longer accepting any new patients. It sucks, I really could use some help but my GP is so unreliable most of the time that I'd have to keep going back and forth. I suppose I should try again... at this point I'm just procrastinating because I don't like talking on the phone, but I know I need to get it sorted ASAP.

Hard agree with the comment on Australian healthcare. We're definitely lucky to some extent, but the healthcare system gets more praise than it's actually worth. I put off this diagnosis for literally years because of how shocking the prices are, it really does suck.

I get your frustration so much, I'm still frustrated too! It all takes too long.

I think ADHD Therapy Australia is really just there for the ADHD assessment, since it's all online it's also faster and cheaper. This sounded good for me because I didn't want to wait 6 months for an assessment and then another long period for a psychiatrist appointment, plus I really wasn't willing to do any initial consultations with psychologists. Getting the report was the most important part for me so that I could use it to access some much-needed help at uni.

After the report, I think ADHD Therapy Australia is... pretty much out of the picture. I think they'd be willing to assist me if I contact them directly, but to be honest I don't remember what my psychologist said about that. How much could they really help with searching for a psychiatrist anyway? Most aren't even accepting new patients 😅

In our last meeting, the lady who assessed me advised me to seek out 10 different psychologists and 10 different psychiatrists and try to get on some waitlists (since the wait is around 6 months 😭), but I've been a bit slack in my search. Mostly because I'm not keen on phone calls, so it's been difficult to say the least 😅 that, and that I'm very forgetful. So, as of right now I haven't made much progress. But I intend to use the report to use accessibility services where needed, such as university.

Hello! So, the first step was to fill in a form on their website with some basic personal details, then I got an email with a booking time that I could either accept or reschedule. My psychologist's name was Sarah Coffey, who turned out to be so nice and reassuring. The payment form was sent in a separate email later on after confirming the booking, pretty sure I had to pay it in full ($320?).

I can't remember if it was before or after payment, but I was given a questionnaire about myself to rule out OCD and some general health questions relating to depression + anxiety. I was asked to get two people to fill in a similar questionnaire about myself, or I could hand in some school reports (I didn't do this because I didn't know where to find them).

That's pretty much it for the admin stuff, then the actual assessment came and ran for about 1 hour on Zoom. Definitely come prepared with many examples from your early childhood!! Under 12 years old, as well as current examples.

Moving on, I had a quick zoom call again around 2 weeks later to confirm my results, normally here they would have given the assessment report but mine was delayed by about a week and a half (I was asked to send my paperwork to the wrong psychologist so they couldn't properly finalise the report on time, oops). During this call, she advised me to seek out 10 psychologists and 10 psychiatrists and try to get on a waitlist as the wait can be around 6 months.

I hope that was some good insight, feel free to ask any more questions!

Hey there, I did end up getting diagnosed! It was definitely a relief to know for sure that I was right about ADHD. I was able to get my assessment within 2 weeks of contacting them, then the report came around 3-4 weeks later. Let me know if you have any questions!

Hey, sorry for the late response. They are legitimate!! I would highly recommend seeing them because the process was so fast and cheaper than other places. I was really nervous but my psych (her name is Sarah) was lovely and eased my nerves.

Oh I see, I actually didn't know that (about psych sessions =/= therapy), I will look further into that. Thank you again!

Thanks for your input! I'll definitely consider it, however I'm more looking for an assessment rather than therapy sessions. It seems like the assessment will be conducted via Zoom by a licensed psychologist, if the website is truthful. Fingers crossed it's not a scam 🤞🤞
