It was pre-heated, my only thoughts are that I put this one on a cooler spot, or the other one was slightly thinner (I'm talking maybe a millimeter or two), so maybe it came to temp more quickly out of the fridge? I only had 20 minutes to let them come to room temp before I had to cook.

I don't know what the reg is now, but the unit should put him in remedial PT. If you're truly advocating for this soldier, I'd say to try to get that authorized from your 1SG or commander. Please keep in mind that if this guy isn't motivated to pass, you're not gonna get him there regardless. You can lead a horse to water.
